Homechoice - any good?

I've just signed up for their deal of £27.99 per month/£19 first three months (which isn't much split between me and my flat mates). For that you get free evening and weekend calls, quite a few TV channels, video on demand and 1 MB broadband, which didn't seem a bad deal to me.

But has anyone on here had Homechoice? The reason I've put it on here is because I mainly wanna know what their broadband service is like.

I'm with Homechoice and think they are great. Broadband works just as it should as far as I am aware, never had any problems with that aspect. The set top box died on us, and we had another issue where if there was no activity with the TV service it would turn off after 4 hours (crap for recording stuff then), but they have been fab and sorted stuff out extremely quickly. Was well impressed that they did engineer appointments first thing in the morning, evening and Saturdays.

Thumbs up from me.

PS They even upgraded us to 2Mb for free. How good is that?

what happens if you have your own wireless router but don't want them to come along and install their own for £75? Can you slip the guy £20 to just set yours up?

I'm sorry, I don't actually know what you mean.

The £75 I quoted is the amount the BT website says it costs for them to install a phoneline if you are a new customer.

I have since dicovered my landlady had a BT line so they are reactivating it giving me a new number for free anyway.

If they're the same peoploe as homecall you're fucked if anything goes wrong. My broadband hasn't worked since january, they don't believe me and continue to send me bills. I'd go on, but suffice to say their help desk is staffed by utter fuckwits.

I've had Homechoice since around 1998 or 1999 (the video-on-demand thing) and their broadband since it started, maybe 3 years ago, and it's been fine.

Have had a few of their set-top boxes fail, but they make appointments and come and swap them really quickly.

I don't have a wireless router off them, I have my own, I just have the set-top box that also has a network socket on it, that I then plug into my own wireless router.

Giles..

I've bought it now, they're coming 'round on the 16th to sort it out.

It didn't happen on the 16th (my fault) so it's now happening on the 3rd Oct.
