Holy fuck, Stevie Wonder is touring!

well, Stevie was on fire at the O2 last night and lived up to everyones expectations.

In flying form and backed by a brilliant band he belted out his greatest hits including Uptight, Superstition, Ribbon in the sky, Master Blaster Jammin, Sir Duke, (the one that goes 'You can feel it all ovver!!! You can feel it alll ovver pee-ople!'), Isnt she lovely, For once in my life, and the spectacular 'Do I do.' He spared us of too much new stuff and stuck to what people probably wanted.

He then broke into a stunning version of 'Its so hard to say Goodbye' on the piano which was so moving it was pretty impossible to fight back the tears and people really seemed touched by it. That number got the best response of the night. I find it hard to cry at concerts and reckon its the sign of true greatness when someone can touch the bottom of your heart at that level. Only the true greats like Stevie can do this.

Vocally, he was tremendous - didnt know what to expect as hes 58 now but he sings exactly like he did in his heyday and his voice is still sweet as ever.

He did stop and make one 'speech' about his late mother but didnt go on to long, possibly cos there were be complaints about it following his shows in Manchester, so he laid off the sermonising last night and just got on with it.

The light show was beautiful too, and lowkey, just really pretty visuals and two screens on either side of the stage. When Stevie finished there were no encores, and he played for 2 and a half hours in total.

For those of you that didn't get tickets there are new dates at the MEN, NIA and the O2 in October with great seats still available. Me and my mom have been umming and ahhing about whether we can justify the tickets and we just decided that it doesn't matter if we cant eat for a month and went for it.

We're going to the O2 on the 1st of October :D :D :D

we were in the gold circle, blessed bastard that i am. The ticket was about 100 quid and worth every penny.

Apart from one of Princes nights at the O2, i think Stevie might have been the best gig of my life.

Blind Lemon loved it. Stevie Wonder was always one of his role models. He's hoarse today from all the singing and whooping.

We saw him on Tuesday. It was the most magical gig of my life, and I think I left my lower jaw on the floor of the arena.:D

I'm not jealoussssssssssssss. I'm not jealousssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss. I'm not jealoussssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss! Much. :(

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

i mean that. Live, he was as good as Prince, and i mean, no one ever touches Prince.

Stevie was absolutely blinding last night!:D

He belted out his greatest hits over 2 1/2 hours, including the sublime 'lately' (thats the one that goes 'Its time.To Sayyyy Goooddbyee!!!' Its such a tearjerker, I have never really cried at a gig before but it was impossible not to feel moved from every fabric of your being when he played it.

Well, Im a man of many wishes
Hope my premonition misses
But what I really feel my eyes wont let me hide
cause they always start to cry
cause this time could mean goodbye

I think Stevie himself was tearful when he sang it, which exacerbated the feeling in the crowd X a million.

Its very hard to explain just how mindbending it is to see someone of his greatness. Every song, every note, was perfect and his vocal is of the same sweet perfection as it was in his heyday. I feel honoured and privileged to have seen him play twice at the O2, he was just as brilliant as Prince, and I wonder will I ever see a performer as amazing again.

Did you do that on purpose? :D

You know what... I nearly cry everytime I hear that song let alone see him sing it in concert. It's full of emotion and very moving!

Glad you had a good time.

One day it will be meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! :(
