Hole

Pretty on the inside & live through this are both bloody great albums. Celebrity Skin was horribly over-produced and far too nice tho.

the three albums are pretty different in my opinion. pretty on the inside is raw and startling. live though this is that polished up a bit more, my least favourite of the three. and celebrity skin is pure pop brilliance - miles away from the debut. i know courtney deservedly get a lot of stick but that doesn't mean she's not a worthwhile artist. hole at brixton academy in the mid nineties remains one of the best rock'n'roll shows i've ever seen - imagine all that of that unstoppable courtney love energy raging away on top form, no fuck ups, just hit after hit after hit, crowd going insane, incredible atmosphere. it's not the best rock show i've seen - take a bow ac/dc - but it's definitely in the top five.

yeah, I saw them there then, and it really was quite astounding. Not least for the number of 15/16 year old girls there - one of the few gigs where I never went right down the front. It just didn't feel quite right doing so...

i'm really glad someone else remembers it, because it just feels weird saying that hole played such a good show. i find it hard to believe myself, but she just hit the ground running. it was like she'd just played a show somewhere else, and was coming back on for an encore. i remember being blown away by the first song, whatever it was, thinking she can't keep this up - but she did.
