Hoarders - what have you got rid of lately?

Nothing. What's the point of being a hoarder if you throw things away.

Actually, I do plan on binning the TV and all my VHS tapes in the near future. I never watch 'em and I need the space. The VHS and DVD players are staying, though, for when I move somewhere bigger and maybe get a TV again. They might come in useful one day.

Just saw this thread, and that was my first thought also. If you can throw things away then you're not truly a hoarder. I thought I was bad but my other half is in deep hoarder territory. He moved in with me several years ago, filled up the spare room with boxes of his crap, and hasn't unpacked. I have threatened him with the prospect of hiring a skip, but I'm also a hoarder myself although I've not developed it into quite the same artform. My dad is like it also, he's recently built a 5th shed

gsv's tidying up his 'man lair' in the cellar, and I have been trying to persuade him for years to chuck the box of vinyl and the box of casettes sitting down there seeing as a) in the entirety of our relationship he's never listened to any of it and b) we no longer own own, nor are ever likely to own again, a means of playing them, and if he suddenly gets the urge to listen to one of those albums, he can download it from somewhere.

But sadly I fear it's got to the stage where he thinks it's funny to keep them just to piss me off.

I keep my seven years of accounts files in mums cellar, some are older than seven years, but El Jugs won't let me chuck them, 'just incase'. Mums cellar has so much crap in anyway, I'd have to learn to rock climb in order to get to them.

I'm needing to cut right back, so in the past few weeks I've given away so far: gym quipment, computer workstation, computer chair, sewing machine, about 200 books, records, cassettes, DVDs, kitchenware (including vases), a dinner service, a load of crystal, a throw, small TV and VHS player, and other small stuff that I can't remember now.

I've also chucked/recycled lots of old trade magazines and glassware.

Still got loads to go though ...

Lucky you to have space to store them. I've only got my tiny flat. I desperately need more storage space
