who's better then uk wise?

i prefer roots because it's hip hop without all that "bang bang im gonna jack you" bullshit and his actual beats i think are dope.. i've been a fan for years :) i love half rhymes.jehst is okay..braintax i've never been able to listen too..klashnekoff is pretty bangin..not much else that really gets me going anymore with uk hip hop.im not into grime or dubstep too much and a lot of artisst are crossing over into that area.

I said this the other day, but my fave Roots Manuva album is Brand New Second Hand. I like Run Come Save Me, but not as much and the ones after that have been of progressively less interest to me.

i agree completely - the first album is ace. love that wildflower track...

i don't listen to much new hip-hop, but can i second iam's suggestion of the super chron flight bros? proper quality.

recently, i've also been listening to

dj vadim: ussr - life from the other side
canibal ox: the cold vein (suprised this hasn't been mentioned yet tbh)

and while it's on the brink of not being hip-hop at all, get hold of ice: bad blood - kevin martin, dj vadim, blixa bargeld, justin broadrick & a host of MCs doing an industrial/hiphopthingy. it rules.

all pretty old though tbh. :(

Jehst - Return of The Drifter
Jehst - Falling Down
Most things by Yungun (Essa)
Immortal Technique
Cypress Hill - Temples of Boom & Black Sunday
Klashnekoff - again, most stuff
Foreign Beggars
Jurassic5 - Early stuff is best but i love them good and bad

Thats all pretty decent stuff although some of it is a bit old

The few tracks I've heard by Sway make him appear to be a bit of a one trick pony flow-wise ... though his collaboration with DJ Yoda is quality :D

Ah, you want Dick Cheese for that...he also does a great lounge version of 'I like Big Butts' and 'Me So Horny'...

Nah, definitely wasn't him. It was a bloke talking over the top of a piano playing a looped few keys with the sound of the ocean. It sounded like a motivational life tape but it was Gin and Juice. It's veeeeeeeery funny.

he only has about two flows. Hype boys style grime flow and the softer jokey one. I like sway though he makes me laugh.

Also the most likely of the brits to crack america i reckon(it should be taz!!!!). They seem to like him and he is now on konvict(akon) records.

def jam europe or uk. as is/was taz.

Don't think either were def jam prope(im wrong sov was) and def jam is shit for bringing out new people.

Subscribe to the Fat Beats podcast on eastvillageradio.com. Should flick a few switches for what's about at the moment, US at least.

So where do you find out about new stuff (other than Westwood, obviously :p )...?

Tbh, I mostly use the blogs and pods for hearing new stuff, rather than knowing it's out. The mailouts from the places I buy my hip hop and the labels usually cover that.

Speaking of whom, he was given the award for 'Best Club DJ' at the MOBO Awards last night - and walked to the stage accompanied by more than a little booing. He's tenacious, I'll give him that.

hiphipconnection is the site i tend to use to find stuff out.

To be honest though most of my new stuff came from one of my flatmates but we had a falling out so im slightly out of the loop now:(

Oh and checking new relaes on play.com for mainstream stuff.

True that. He believes in what he's doing, I'll give him that. :)
