HIGNFY... seriously shit.

I don't really rate Boris Johnson, he can't deliver a line for shit.
That's what makes it so funny. The first time he was host, the entire episode was a series of mistakes, small calamities and complete idiocy by Johnson, with Merton ripping him apart.

You should book yourself into a nearby hospital for a sense of humour check up.

If you couldn't work out that boris being inept was what made it funny, then I am surprised that you find anything funny, ever.

HIGNFY is still a funny program. I had tickets to go see it once, but then stood about in the cold for 30mins and got bored and went home :p

This weeks one was seriously shit. it can still be funny, but the problem is that the format is really tired, and Paul and Ian are very hit and miss

Its the fact we've heard everything they could possibly have to say.

You can anticipate every story, they telegraph every jokey comment. Tired.

The News Quiz is still shit hot though:)

It doesn't compete with mock the week. but I reckon if they had the same captains and guests etc in 15 years it would be just as shit....

typical bbc, always leave them gaggin for less

Priceless :D Drav tells someone they need a "humour check up".....

BoJo has the comic presence of a bag of dog sick, after its eaten a pound of butter and gotten sick on the kitchen floor and then eaten it again before.....you get the picture?

so its a great programme but you couldn't be bothered to go and see it? hardly a mark of endearment is it?

Hey I might be a misanthropic git who reveals in the misery of those who play the capitalist game when it inevitably bites them in the arse.

Doesn't mean I don't have a sense of humour!

Seriously, how shit is this program now? I actually can't stand either of them anymore. Paul Merton does the same lame "I'm so zany" routine that just isn't funny anymore, and is actually pretty cring worthy most of the time, and Ian Hislop does his same predictable "political jabs" every week. And why the hell have they got people like Fern Britton presenting it?

It's just annoying because of what a quality piece of proggramming it used to be, I remember when I would literally be crying with laughter for half an hour non-stop, and now it's just the occasional chuckle (usually one of the guests).

Anyone else agree?
I don't watch telly, so I can't really comment. However, The News Quiz on Radio 4 is the programme that HIGNFY ripped off the format from and it's just as brilliantly funny and as good as it ever was. My advice is to ditch the telly and listen to radio.

Is this some kind of sick joke?

Its just a reflection on how tired HIGNFY is now.

Frankie Boyle and Russell Howard are currently many times fresher and more unpredictable than the HIGNFY team.

We've not heard everything thy have to say yet.

Meh to HIGNFY. :)

Was a time when I watched HIGNFY and listened to The News Quiz and The Huddlines.
Quite amazing how the same jokes cropped up on all three. Heh! :)

The thing about Mock the Week that really grates for me is that most of it is set-pieces. The same is true of News Quiz to an extent, but for some reason it seems less painful on radio.

HIGNFY, Buzzcocks and QI on the other hand are (aside from some of the presenter lines of course) far more adlib - I much prefer that.

MtW isn't the 'topical news quiz' it claims to be but an excuse for some piss-poor comedians to showcase their stand-up stuff.
It would be unwatchable if it wasn't for Frankie Boyle but even he can be lazy and predictable.
I'd prefer to not hear Russell Howard say anything ever again.

HIGNFY has the occaisional duff episode but makes me laugh out loud most weeks as does the News Quiz on the wireless :)

I still enjoy it and the latest episode with Bill Bailey hosting and panellists Charles Kennedy was a good one.
