HIGNFY featuring Russell Brand

Ok, running against the grain, I thought Mr brand was execrable. Painfully unfunny. Embarassingly bad. Contrived. Showing off. Leaden humour. Tumbleweed pauses after his failed gag efforts to match his self-consciously contrived wild hair. As exciting and innovative as a plate of cold alphabet soup spelling the word 'poo'.

With luck, this performace will terminate his extremely limp and annoying career.

Let's face it, we can all see this emperor's bare bum and shrivelled, turkey-necked dick.
:(

Beautiful.

I can't stand him, but I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I ended up turning over after less than two minutes.

i quite like Brand but thats exactly what i thought as i was watching.

the point when he went toilet was attention seeking at its worse and not funny. annoying cos i like Brooker too.

I thought he was good - would like to see him presenting sometime :)

He was annoying, but came across great when he slated them all for being pompous tossers about his book. Did well there.

Not really, they had a good point, people work hard on important stuff that can educate and benefit us all but instead we seam to celebrate faux whacky twats like Brand. He was fucking appalling as ever.

I try very hard not to like Russell Brand but I just can't seem to help myself :(

I beg pardon from the urban coollective :o

That'll get Dub out of the woodwork

I honestly see nothing to like about him since he first appeared on telly!

What can I say? :(

I like his word play, the speed of his thoughts, the seeming randomness.......

ooooh.

*breaks out iPlayer*

FOr anyone who hasn't used it, iPlayer is pretty cool and really good quality. Far better than youTube for bbc stuff.

I've never been able to stand Russell Brand, but I found myself warming to him after this, albeit somewhat reluctantly. It might be because when I'm pissed up on booze at house parties (ie not sound system parties iyswim), after I've drunk myself into "the zone", I start prattling on in a rather similar way. Oh dear. :( I'm not as camp though. And my hair's better.

As for HIGFNY in general, I thought everybody on it last night was really funny - noticed Hislop's LOL too!

Yeah me too. I just watched that 8 minute clip on youtube and hmmm gotta say, even as an admirer, the toilet 'gag' had not even a vestige of funniness about it. Should've been first out on edit.

I only saw about 10 minutes of it - missed the toilet gag.

It wasn't a gag, it was an attention seeking diva behaving like a child.

:D I don't like it! Look at me! I said - I DON'T LIKE IT! Look! Look I'm going against then grain! Me! Yes, I am!

I just think he was on the wrong show. Mind you, I thought that about all the Big Brother spin offs he did, too.

And I hated his Russell Brand Show, or whatever it was called.

I just don't like Russell Brand. He is not clever and he is not funny, and he certainliy wasn't either clever or funny on HIGNFY!

IMHO, of course :)

You are not wrong... perhaps with a different host and a different other guest it might have worked, but when the other people on the show were Brooker, Dee, Merton and Hislop he was always going to be painfully, amusingly and gloriously exposed as the twat some of us have always thought he was.
