Hertfordshire drinks anyone?

What time is this meant to be happening, roughly?

Is it
a)a daytime event
b)an evening thing
c)an all-day till closing time sort of deal
d)Mr Garrison?

Just asking because I'll have work that saturday, till 6pm. Will I still be able to make it? - I don't really know where this St Albans is, but it sounds far way...

I've been looking at timetables, it's not that far  Takes 20 minutes on the train from Kings Cross and the trains run every about every 10 minutes throughout the day. Last train back to London is 23.50.

however, in that case we need to pick the pub with care; the station is at the bottom of a long, long road called London rd and it's a long way from there to the town centre

It does seem like a long way; but via Victoria Street, I'm sure it's actually only about half a mile (800m) 'twixt station and the town hall/centre. :)

Having said that, I do remember missing quite a few last trains from St Albans station... :o :D

Right, time wise,I'd suggest a daytime, into the evening and then play it by ear kind of thing. How's that sound to people? Meeting up at about 2ish. Could go to a pub closer to the station if you like, there's plenty to choose from. The Crown is right near the station, and it's pretty big. (and there's a little Jungle record shop next door for any record freaks ;) ) We could meet there and move on,whatever,I'm easy maaaaaan. :)

yeh! I'm coming, it'll be nice to see you on your home turf:)
Well,I was just thinking,we could go to harpenden if you're all ok with that. It's probably easier re-meeting up-distance from station to pubs.

It's up to you lot.

Half a mile is a long way for Jezza. He moans if he has to walk for more than 5 mins. :p

I reckon we need some kind of itinary so that late-comers will know where to find us.

Hey, is this still happening?

I've just realised that this is just before payday, and I'm likely to be skint. :(

Ok,the Crown.
Directions.
Come out of the station the side of the ticket office. As you come out, turn left, walk past the bus stops/car park and up the road, when you get to the top of the road turn right and walk down the road to the bottom, pub is on the other side of the road by the traffic lights. Large place, you can't miss it.
2pm.

It's got a terrible review in BITE!

Had a quick pint of Bombardier here on Sunday, got to say its got even worse, well done for keeping the worst tasting pint in St. Albans!

The Crown is an APPALLING pub! :(

The Farmer's Boy is also close to the station and does a lot of nice ales and a lovely pub.

The Farmer's Boy does sound much better (and it's named after an 80s band from Norwich!). Notice you haven't reviewed it yet, Treefrog.

ToM party on the Friday the 23rd. This is going to be tough one but where there is a will there is a way I guess.

We gonna be there all day or move on somewhere else?
I hope v much we move on, as I'd like toshow you all the Fighting Cocks (and me old skool:o ) and the glories of the lakes
there's also a coupla pubs up on st peters st I'd like a nostalgic pint in

The Fighting Cocks used to double for The Trout in 'Inspector Morse', apparently. And Henry VIII (or someone like like that) used to chain his goats to the bar while enjoying a tipple.

Genuinely authentic pub, perfectly placed for when the nectar calls while hanging with tha homies down tha abbey.

I might drop in.

Right,I don't want to worry you all,but Jezza is your group leader :D He knows where he is going,I'm not 10% sure where the pub is,but I'll find out soon enough :D

(((everyone))) :D

So, we're meeting in pub that you don't know the location of, and then playing it by ear?

If you want people to attend this you need maps, directionns and firm plans! How are people who want to come along later gonna find us?
