dont know if this counts but all the junkies i used to know were all listening to the psychedelic furs new album back in 1982 (the title escapes me atm) Run run run run away, east street etc
i heard it so many times round their houses that i always relate it to heroin use.

Talk Talk's last two albums Spirit of Eden and Laughingstock are utterly heroin fuelled.
Dandy Warhols - Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth
Lots of stuff by Spiritualized, e.g. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are floating in space".

Villiers Terrace - Echo and the Bunnymen

If you believe Jason Pierce all the drug references in his songs are about paracetomol and red wine. Yeah right, "hey man there's a hole in my arm where all the money goes"![]()
It's a line lifted from John Prine, but your point stands.
Not quite the only drug-related line in a spiritualized song though is it?
There's one song I always relate to heroin use, even though it doesn't have anything to do with heroin.
When I hadn't been using for very long, but it was starting to get a bit of a hold of me, I was lying on my bed feeling depressed thinking about wtf i was doing to myself...then the song "santa cruz you're not that far" (by the thrills) came on the cd player. It was just the mood of the song, and that first line: "so tell me where it all went wrong..."
I know this song has nothing to do with drugs at all, but I always associate it with that feeling.

It's a lovely song that, can't say I ever associated with skag mind you
Of course I never figured out that 'Perfect Day' was about heroin so there's no point asking me.

the only ones- another girl another planet.(now being fetaued in a shampoo advert)

Not seen Jubilee? Its an odd film. A vision of an anarchistic future from 1977.

Baby doll is on her trapeze
Wearing the smile that she never sees
Thinking of dollar as she tries to tease
Time to play Sheba on a wooden stage
Taking off the clothes that are grimy with age
Rubbing down the skin that is white and cold
And the sticking plasters that cover up the holes
Stared at by a man that would do her harm
Needs to earn the money that will feed his arm
He promised you security safe and warm
He promised you security safe and warm

Frusciante released his second solo album, Smile from the Streets You Hold, in 1997. The album's first track, "", was largely characterized by cryptic lyrics and hysterical screeches. Frusciante also coughs throughout the track, showcasing his deteriorating health. By his own admission, the album was released in order to get "drug money"; he withdrew it from the market in 1999. Yet Frusciante has stated that he believes the material on the record is of high quality and wishes to one day re-release it.
A guy walks up to a girl in a bar,
And asks "What do you do?" She says "Tar!"
