Heroin Sounds

A junkie walking through the twilight
I'm on my way home
I left three days ago, but noone seems to know i'm gone
Home is where the hatred is
Home is filled with pain and it,
might not be such a bad idea if i never, never went home again

stand as far away from me as you can and ask me why
hang on to your rosary beads
close your eyes to watch me die
you keep saying, kick it, quit it, kick it, quit it
God, but did you ever try
to turn your sick soul inside out
so that the world, so that the world
can watch you die

home is where i live inside my white powder dreams
home was once an empty vacuum that's filled now with my silent screams
home is where the needle marks
try to heal my broken heart
and it might not be such a bad idea if i never, if i never went home again
home again
home again
home again
kick it, quit it
kick it, quit it
kick it, quit it
kick it, can't go home again

My all time favourite band - The Gun Club.

Sadly Jeffrey Lee now dead ( had HIV/Hepc- tho' died of a brain haemorhage ).

She's like heroin to me

Walking with the beast.

hey i know what about HEROIN by Lou reed,or is that too obvious?;)

Mentioned in the OP. Plus it was actually by the Velvet Underground, not Lou Reed solo.

Incidentally, some people seem to have strayed off topic. The thread is about songs ABOUT heroin, NOT musicians who took it - e.g. what tunes did Charlie Parker record that were about the drug? Similarly, the Pretenders. Two of them died as a result of their drug intake, but Chrissie Hynde wrote the songs.

How would their tunes have been different if they *were* about heroin?....

"Stop your jabbing" springs to mind (even though it was a cover).

dont know if this counts but all the junkies i used to know were all listening to the psychedelic furs new album back in 1982 (the title escapes me atm) Run run run run away, east street etc
i heard it so many times round their houses that i always relate it to heroin use.

haha!! weird, same with me around that time.

later on all my junkie mates were into the first JAMC lp.

loads of neds back then were into early simple minds as well.

Talk Talk's last two albums Spirit of Eden and Laughingstock are utterly heroin fuelled.

haha!! yes, that too!! had forgotten bout them.
mate from belfast tells me they were the soundtrack to his drug years.

actually, this thread is - with a few notable exceptions - a list of crap bands who made dull music. moral= smack makes for shite music

Acutally its was meant to be about musicians on heroin, and how heroin has a sound, not about heroin songs.

All the acts listed so far definitely have a sound in common...

My otherhalfs favourite music is all heroin inspired, we realised the other day, and I thought it would be intersting to pool our collective knowledge to list all the music that has been given that heroin rub.

I dont reckon - maybe a couple of stinkers but on the whole im feeling it.

Im more into weed and E induced music myselkf, but I love heroin sounds too.

What I like about it is the way everything struggles to keep up with the beat!
and even when a band try and get all punky and energetic there is always this softened quality to it, that appeals to me.

Different sttrokes I guess.

Good during winter for hiding under the covers...

Any idea what My Bloody valentine were on. Whats that dudes name who make it...Kevin someone? Probably on anti-depressants...

Kevin Shields...and I agree, he must have been on something.

Bridge over Troubled water - always denied of course, but the soporific feel is good

Siver Machine - Hawkwind - infact anything that brings up silver could be included.

Programme - by the ONly Ones ' you know you're going to sweat when you'rs on this programme '

ALso the beast.

Villiers Terrace - Echo and the Bunnymen

Give up the Sun - Gun Club - 'my hobby burns my insides apart '

Ruts ( probably mentioned ) H-eyes. love in vein.

Sid - My Way (includes actions an all)

NMA - Vengeance

Sublime have endless smack tunes. the lead singer only did smack cos he wanted to be a rock star like hendrix and kurt cobain... quite sad really

Was just about to mention Sublime.

Also, Mother Love Bone. Andrew Wood died of an overdose and appartantly Alice in Chains song Would? is about him.

Also, Dogs D'Amour had a song called Heroin and were very much inspired by it. They also had a song called She Put It In Her Arm which I once read Tyla saying was about tattoos not heroin, but I don't believe it.

Also, the Wildhearts have a few including Jonesing for Jones. 2 members are/have been addicts.

For the record of this thread, need to add "There She Goes" by The LAs which is about heroin...

There she blows
There she blows again
Pulsing through my veins
And I just can't contain
This feeling that remains
etc..

Happy Mondays
Something I never twigged before (not being a mondays fan particularly) was that Sean was doing heroin as a teen and kept doing it all along - explains a lot now - i never quite got how they fitted into the whole rave thing - yeah, there are some uppers in the mix there, but I think heroin is the dominant sound throughout

'Stinkin Thinkin' was Shaun Ryder's unrequited love ballad about heroin. 'Kiss me for old times sake ...' Fucking great song - the only good one off a disastrous album that ended the band. Last good thing they did.
