Seeing as how the European Cup/UCL qualifiers are on in a few weeks - and we look like we will have the dubious honour of hammering east Belfast's 'finest' - it's time to get the new season's thread on the go.*

One would assume the home and away legs will get switched to avoid having the Belfast one in the midst of the knuckledragging orgy of bigotry that is The Twalfth, but one should never understimate the stupidity of those in authority.

Aberdeen will go backwards and I remain unconvinced at the new gadgy at Ibroke (who will anyway be sabotaged and hamstrung from within by the taig hunter/haters).

This lack of competition might be a problem for a lesser manager than Brendan. But his philosophy of incremental improvement in the search for excellence/ the only person you are in competetion with is the 'you' of yesterday etc seems tailor-made for this scenario.

*I did ask unrepentant85 and starfish to kick it off but they did not respond

Not as hot as it would've been at Windsor Park on the 11th of July :)

Meh. Eminently sensible I would have thought.

I know it's ridiculous - but what is the Marching season if not ridiculous?

And it's not 'religious reasons' is it? It's to stop an orgy of sectarian/racist ignorance and, in all probability, violence. I know and you know that it would be almost exclusively one-way traffic, but I'm quite happy to miss scoring points about the underlying fascism of loyalism if it means no Celtic fans have to get killed or maimed.

Basically the cops could control/police the game and the crowd or the interface areas, but not both.

The huns will probably still wreck their own gaffe and attack the cops (or the PSNIRA as many of them have taken to calling them) but at least there will be no fig leaf of 'one side's as bad as the other' for liberal handwringers to cling to.

Defence were all over the place vs Rapiid Vienna on Saturday but a cooly taken penalty feom Dembele levelled things up.. playing in Prague this evening .. gutted the Sunderland game falls on my OHs 40th so can't go.to that one .. Will laugh if La Fiorita win this evening .. might place a double on them to win along with the Luxembourg side playing the huns

Nice little warm up against Shamrock Rovers reserves .. I think we'll do a demolition job of the animals from Linfield next Friday .. not sure we'll hit 9 though

One more sleep to go before we head off to enjoy the last day of Orangefest. Can't wait to Celtic's players having the opportunity to see the colour, to feel the friendly exuberance and hearty welcome guaranteed by Linfield and their colourful fans.

Leigh Griffiths got a yellow card because some lunatic chucked a bottle of buckfast at him. Hands down the worst refereeing decision I have ever seen!

You wouldn't even get that in Scotland.

I would have laughed my cock off if, whilst still brandishing the yellow card, the next bottle had hit him square in the face.

    The stupid cunt.

Never, ever, seen the likes of it

Can't wait for the £5000 (oh, go on then, euros) fine from UEFA. Maybe the DUP could pay it?

More fines on the way from last nights game too now. And possibly closing the GB section for a couple of games.

Disappointing game but still all to play for & hopefully we'll have a striker playing next week.
