Henry to Barca.

More news...apparentley Barcelona wanted to pay 12 mill for Titi....Arsene held out for 16.

Wonder if they know something we dont about his condition?

Or maybe, just maybe they wanted an extra £4m from a club they know can afford it? Crazy idea, I know.

I studied the Spanish Civil War for my A Level and have a deep respect for the stance that the City and associated football club took against Franco...

Plus they GAVE money to UNICEF....how many teams do that?

And they play the Arsenal way...;)

BTW I'm glad people support Barca as a second team - no problem with that at all, so long as they know the facts and aren't trying to buy into some cache they think is associated with it.

The Civil War thing bugs me slightly - this ain't a dig at you - but half my relatives were killed in it and not because they thought it would protect one city (where they were born and raised) and its football team set up by a Swiss chancer.

Why don't they choose to support Sabadell? Huesca? Girona? Santander? Sociedad? Bilbao? All places that had significant parts of their population fighr side-by-side with the POUM and others in the stand against Franco and have football teams too. The only answer I can see is they didn't have popular players at their teams and aren't considered in the same way as Barca.

And yeah we gave money to Unicef but i'd rather not have a shirt sponsor at all - it's the start of a slip[pery slope. Get fans used to seeing logos on the shirt, next thing you know it's bleedin' Telefonica or La Caixa up there :(

Well of course the reality lies much deeper when events are experienced first hand (as it were) through family associations.

All I can say is that as a 16/17 year old it compounded my two obsessions, football and socialism, admirably. I've since read counter histories, such as yours, and do have them in mind when I say i hope I haven't belittled your family's efforts.

But support of any club is (ultimately) irrational. And as the Muslims say "Only God has the right to be perfect"

Btw...there's no way Titi's worth as little as 12mil...you're having a laugh.

He was a churlish twat off the pitch, beyond blame and quite the (dare I say typically French) hypocrite.

a good player yes but off the pitch he was a prick.

spoke like a true spud. ie: nonsense

robot i wouldn't be surprised if henry went onto have a blinding spell at barce.

last season was an anomaly for titi, he was obviously out of sorts physically from the start and he always said his body language was personal annoyance at his own inability to perform, as he is very self-critical from his paris suburb dad barking at him days. the squad knew that. (not a natural captain in my view though).

what gets me is that he should have left quietly without talking about dein or wenger's potential exit

Henry has two more great years in him. And I dare say he will have a blinding spell at Barca...But his time was up with us, as much as it pains me to say it.

The Dein stuff is getting to Kennedy Conspiracy stakes. And Wenger leaving, whilst a possibility, why should he?..This present Arsenal IS him and why would you destroy your life's greatest work? Dont make sense..I think both are red herrings from Henry. From what I've gathered he made the approach to Barca before Dein left. Whatever. He's gone. Time to look to the future and have him take his rightful place as one of the Arsenal greats.

Best I've seen.
