henry decides to stay at arsenal

As Henry said <cough> it's all about walking away with dignity! (after babbling on like a twat about how he wasn't responsible for losing - it was the ref)

That's what it's all about....dignity

Nothing to do with lifting the cup above your head and winning the cup then Henry?

:D pmsl

I've just seen his press conference.

Arsenal fans...loud and passionate?

Eh...were they playing tapes at Highbury last season?

he hardly played in the world cup though did he? He was only 20

scored 3 goals in the tournament, but i don't think he was actually in the pitch in the final, he was only 20

Just heard a rather interesting debate about this on the radio.

It compared Larsson and Henry, both had 7 years at respective clubs, Henrik took Barca to a semi-final and then left....Henry...ditto but stayed

Now Henrik could have stayed and continued to be loved, but he didn't, he took a huge step to Barcelona, and its paid off. Two Championships and A Champions League Medal...paid off

Henry playing safe?

Moving from Celtic to Barcelona (or anyone to Barcelona really) doesn't seem like a massive risk to me. If he did move Henry would have a much bigger chance of a Spanish title medal next year than he has a chance of winning the Premiership at Arsenal.

Yeah but he's under no pressure at Arsenal. You could argue in a side like Barcelona if he didn't deliver for a bit then he'd be on the bench as the competition is far stronger.

It was a calculated risk for Henrik IMO, because I honestly thought and I'll put hands up, that he would flop and as much as we look at his record there ARE doubts over Henry, I mean, I could bully the defences of the bottom half of the EPL

Yeah maybe. I think people make too big a deal about that though, tbh. He's scored quality goals against some very good defences. I'm sure people remember him ripping through the Liverpool defence a couple of years ago, or skinning Zanetti against Inter. He did well against Real and Juve this season, and personally I thought he did OK in the final, given the lack of support. Ronaldinho didn't exactly set the game on fire did he? I can't see that the doubts are justified really.

I'm not an Arsenal fan but I'm pleased he's staying. He's the best player to watch in the Premiership for me.

Barcelona werent really the side they are now when he joined were they ?

Agree about Henry though, he may have been slightly afraid of being a medium sized fish in a big fuck off pond.

henry would have done well at barcelona imo, give him good service and he'll score goals for anyone

He would have scored loads, but he never would have enjoyed the same status with the barca fans that he does with the arse.

Plus he would have missed all them st georges flags with 'MILTON KEYNES' on the front, brilliance.

a lot of what I've read on here is just big time sour graps by fans who dream of having a player like him.........

He is a fantastic example of a PROFFESIONAL footballer.

Who wouldn't have him?

:p

so larsonn moved from celtic where he was scoring goals left right and centre in the scottish premiership and then he came on for 20 minutes of a championship league final (where he didn't score) and everyone is saying he is the big fuckign cheese of european football for the last year. fuck that. if he was why didnt he start? was he only good enough to get on the subs bench or barca? i admit his introduction changed things wedsnesday but the game did not go barcs's way because larsonn came on. he's over the hill and will be in obscurity next year so fuck it. its not like he'll be playing for man ure or cheski next year. end of career i think (well after the world cup when he wont do anything so fuck it again i say).

I hate to break the news that Barcelona are a bigger club than Arsenal!? ;)

And just about everyone else too!

WTF are you on about? Everyone else?

This is a Thierry thread so why don't non-fans chat on whatever sad team thread they support and leave us fans to cheer in peace...

just so you know, this thread aint called 'we love thiery'

yeh. it's called "henry decides to stay at asrenal". where in the thread title does it say "we love henry?"???????

henry is amazing but it's all a bit parochial wanking yrself dry about him being the best thing to grace the premiership since dion dublin when la liga & serie a have had several players of his quality at any time in the last decade and a half. if english clubs had got any of nedved, zidane, ronaldo, ronaldinho (fuck you and fuck the 'sir alex'), shevchenko, eto'o, kaka, messi and several others then perhaps we'd be spared some of that. as it is i think gerrard is at least as good. very glad he's staying in this country though.

He loves Arsenal that much he has he held them to ransom for 3 months unitl he got an offer to make him the highest paid player in football. Henry is loyal to his pocket, that's all.

i like his football but i've never liked him as a person one little bit.

Why shouldn't he bleed the club dry. He will be soon forgotten when he hangs up his boots. Fuzzy, you ain't got a clue. Larsson is pure quality because he can score and link up play, as he did on wednesday night. Remember no larsson no CL medal. He is now best off the bench, but barcelona are mad not to try and keep him for another season.
Us fans are very fickle, we think only of tomorrow.

wouldnt bother me if he did.
i would honestly prefer to like henry because i appreciate his football but as someone said earlier in this thread, his arrogant goal celebrations and whingeing put me right off him.

err, yes, but we haven't, and aren't likely to, either. so your point is...?

It's not liek we need him is it...two league titles, this season with a goal difference of over 40 suggests we're doing just fine as we are.

I think Henry made the decision he felt was right and I respect him for that. He's still not goign to win the CL though.

twas in the original post
a few times i've seen comments about him being the best player ever to have played in england, which whilst untrue, isn't that tendentious, if henry played in spain or italy that would be an absurd claim
i think chelsea might get one or two off that list in any case :s

and what johan cruyff thinks, if that's of any consequence
