It's about 1cm long, very small but I really NEED to know what that is a.s.a.p! :(

** screams **

I've never seen anything like it in my life...

(that one got exteminated with Mr. Muscle!)

It can't a be a fish, or a leech, they're living in my kitchen and it's not very watery here...

** vomits **

They were hiding in a very dry environment when I uncovered them...

ok, Cid might be right...

Another useful way to capture silverfish is to put a grated potato on a slab by their hideout overnight. The silverfish will crawl into the potato to feed. The next morning, the whole potato, along with the silverfish inside, can be disposed of.

** faints **

Silverfish

At least they won't kill us...

Silverfissh aren't actually fish, they're soft, wingless insects. They will feed on almost aanything, but are nocturnal so you may not see them doing it.

They are quite tiny, and look scarier in the photo than 'in person'... What's freaky about them is how they move, I removed a bit of wood near the washing machine and, fucking hell, got the fright of my life!!!

They move very fast!!!

I think you've got it right, Cid, thanks :)

Now I need to get rid of them...

There was a thread on silverfish recently.

Here you go

They won't eat you but they do eat books and paper :(

Thanks!

That's why I love urban, 10 mins ago I had no idea what I was up against, and now I have a wealth of information!!!

Bring on the Boric Acid! (I think, still researching)

It is a mine of useful information, especially suburban. Following a thread I posted earlier, I shall be serving pears in brandy next year sometime - you're invited

My kitchen is fairly old and there's lots of crevices - I feel dizzy just thinking about how many crevices there are...

I also found about 5 spiders + spider webs living happily in the same dark spot (after my encounter with one of them last night in the open). I don't mind spiders so much but I think I might have more than my fair share in here...

I had some of those critters in my kitchen when I moved into the flat. Not nice to look at, but Wiki says they're not harmful to us planet-destroying humans. :D
