Help putting together a band or finding people to jam with

Are you going it alone? Good man.
I've been writing some stuff on my own but I want a band dammit.

Yes. Basically I've taken two songs I wrote (The Fall and Seven Foot High) in another band and re-worked them. Bigger and faster and more aggressive sound than how we used to do them. It's for my pleasure/interest. I'm long past looking for a deal or playing at Wembley. Mind you, I will play the Astoria before I die... :D

Funny thing is, I got a call back from a band I auditioned for a while back but forgot about. They're a "name" punk band - name in as much as they've been around for a while, just doing gigs and benefits....not a name like "Offspring" or "Green Day" ie rich and famous! Nice people, too.

Maybe it's like waiting for the 453 bus - wait ages and then 23 bendy buses all turn up at once!

Aye. Just wrote a pretty cool tune and instead of high-fiving my bandmates I came downstairs to get a glass of water and check my e-mail :(

Are you in London? :)

I've now got month off, a nice spangly new controller keyboard and an inability to play that and a guitar at the same time. Anybody fancy writing an album?

I don't know what a keyboard controller is, but I do know what a plank of wood and wire (guitars) can do.

Always up for a jam or mess around with any Urb in Londres if it suits your schedule and mine. :)

Kewl. The controller keyboard is just a keyboard without a synth inside: it tells the synths in the PC what to do. I've been getting all prog-widdly for the last couple of days with the two-keyboard set up. It has to end!

Nah, I'm in Scotland.
Good luck to you, I wouldn't have the bollocks to go to a studio on my own.
Will just have to stick with dodgy bedroom recordings for now!

Alba. My heartland. :)

It'll be the first time I've been to a studio all on my own.

I explained to the bod what I want to do and what I need help with (drums or drum machine). He seemed okay with my ideas. I guess I'm the customer, so...

I've got both songs broken down into constituent parts; two rhythm parts (to be double tracked); guitar melodies; bass parts and piano (on one song). Oh - and lyrics are done, too. I'm as organised as I can be.

If it's A1 utter shite, at least I'll have had a go and probably a laugh.

If it's okay/acceptable/fucking genius *shrugs* may help me find the band I've been searching for.

I've booked some studio time to record two songs. Given up on people who talk a good game.

I am in a studio all day tomorrow, 300 quid a day...for the studio not me, 9 to 5.

Though sadly it is work so playing other peoples music.

This is the drummer I play with for fun he is very good, seems capable of playing over any old rubbish I play, and I play some odd stuff sometimes.

I wrote an entire song just using the D String on a guitar the other day. I quite like it too.

Bit lost without a good drummer, they can really drive the creative process.

£300? Where are you based? I know a great place for much less.
ON second thoughts, are you recording or rehearsing?

"41 yr old punk guitarist with own teeth and hair seeks band along lines of Black Flag, Husker Du,Conflict and GBH ...and he'll shag yer missus while you podcast it to your blog."

Think it'll work?

Funnily enough i asked a mate to stick up an advert for me last night in the studios he goes to. May as well paraphrase here...

Bristol based drummer seeks band, influences along the lines of metal, dub, punk, 90's indie and d 'n' b/jungle. Want a band thats up for a laugh and some gigging, not pretention, anality and definitely no stupid emo haircuts.

Unless you're being ironic i guess.

Well we came up with some sort of prog rock thing with dubstep beats and acoustic guitar :D He is miles more talented than me though, I was a bit overwhelmed :o
