Help me fashion forum - I Need A PARTY DRESS!

I agree with the others - you need something with an empire line that will show off your, ahem, hooters. :D Alternatively, a wrap dress is good for revealing cleavage, while draping gently over the stomach.

I like this dress from Monsoon - great colour.

It's all about confidence, high heels and good underwear.

My little sister had some amazing strapless basque type thing that sucked everything in. I can ask her where she got it if you want.

Yay to wearing dresses. I stopped wearing them much for a few years and got stuck in a rut with jeans/tousers but now it's any excuse to get one one.

I had thought that my legs were too fat for a dress hence me not wearing them but about 2 and half years ago I bought a beautiful dress in Camden that helped me to change my mind.

I recently bought a dress half price in the Coast sale which is now the only item in my wardrobe that has a protective bag around!

All of the dresses pictured are lovely....don't forget about shoes and handbag !

I quite like site www.oli.co.uk

i love the purple one, but this one wouldn't be so tummy-forgiving.

I was thinking about this earlier - forget what i said earlier - I don't think you should buy a black dress, hon - i seer you in a coldish jewel colour. That purple is as warm as i'd go, and even better would be a vivid mid blue, or a turquoisey shade.

I've just bought a dress a bit like this one from Monsoon:

Except the one I bought is black, with a gold/cream coloured underlay.

I'm size 18 and DD.

It's quite a flattering style, because the empire line helps it skim over a bit of belly.

Monsoon is really good because they have a really good selection of party frocks in a variety of different styles, and their sizes do go up to 18 (unlike a lot of other high street stores where they stop at 16).

I've also bought this one:

http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/p...d=core&size=9&rh=n:43091030,p_10:Black&page=1

The fabric is a little bit clingier than some, because it's stretchy jersey material, and while it sounds as though that should be a total no-no, it's more flattering than it sounds, it kind of sits on your curves in the right places... so long as you wear a pair of magic pants underneath it. ;)

It might seem a bit casual, but I've dressed it up to go out at night, with strappy shoes, and bold, colourful accessories in a burnt orange colour, and been complimented on my appearance in it.

The sweetheart-ish style neckline is also quite flattering, as with a pair of DDs I can't really go for those really really low cut V neck dresses that are in vogue at the moment (the kind you need a flatter chest and tit-tape for), as I need scaffolding to hold mine up, which rules out the very deep V. And it covers my rounded shoulders and the tops of my fat arms too.

I figure I'll dress it up and wear it out a few more times and then maybe tone down the shoes and accessories and get more wear out of it during the day time next spring. It's actually quite a bargain, too, at around £20. And they do it in red, although I didn't think that was as flattering as the classic black on me.
