So absolutely don't get her that - it's the inane ramblings of a small-minded, racist fuckwit.

well it does say "clot" in the title ;)

She's not getting it anyway. I'm just trying to come up with ideas to give her some inspiration

Are there any foods/drinks that she likes but wouldn't normally buy herself?

Time and effort mean a lot to people, so torrenting some films and burning them to DVD might be a nice additional touch if money's short.

They're a bit old for her - she likes more modern (crap) films.

A box set is not a bad idea though, if I can think of something she likes that she hasn't already got.

They're not too old for me, you can get them for me if you like :D

Biographies?

Well I suppose without knowing who or what she likes... :hmm:

Amazon search on biographies, from Coco Chanel to Nelson Mandela to Paul O'Grady

how does she watch films usually? cinema or at home? cinema voucher? or as already suggested, some downloaded films burned on to dvds, with a box of film munchies? or a popcorn machine with popping corn?

i did that for my sister last christmas. she loves films but rarely goes to the cinema as its too expensive. so i bought her a cinema voucher thingy, then made up a box to look like an old fashioned ticket booth thing and filled it with some popping corn, some popcorn flavouring powders, bags of sweets, a throw blanket for snuggling on the sofa, a do not disturb door sign with film now showing written on it and a plastic popcorn box and plastic cup with lid and straw. my brother then got her a years subscription to a film rental shop

Sorted - I have ordered The Notebook, Slumdog Millionaire, In Bruges and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. I phoned my stepdad and he doesn't think they have any of them.

It's too bad if she does, anyway! :D

oh, modern modern films as in this century

You could have said that :D

PS: Put them into a box and I'll feel like my suggestion of a boxset was worthwhile!

Thanks for giving me the idea :)

So pleased that I don't have to rush around on Saturday now.

I really like this idea of a themed box of things, I'm going to bear it in mind for Christmas and future birthday presents. We keep spending on Christmas and birthdays as low as possible so imaginative ways of giving presents are great.

Have you ordered them off Amazon or something? Will they arrive on time?

PS: Don't forget her card

I've ordered them from Amazon, they should arrive before Saturday. I got a card today so I will post it tomorrow.

I am so well organised today.

You are. Now you just have to keep everything crossed that the posties don't decide to go on strike this week ;)
