because I am a poor student and using fotopic costs fuck all and means I can put loads of pictures on there. i am considering buying my own URL and also making a proper site but just would not know where to start

Welcome GuerillaPhoto :)

I enjoyed looking through the abandoned-beauty collection and will definitely have a more thorough look at the main site later

There's people on here that can help you with that I'm sure.

Aaah fair enough!!

only 2 quid a year for a .co.uk and say a tenner a month to host it if that :)

I'll PM you with who else might help :)

Some fascinating buildings on your site. Everytime I see a deserted asylum I keep thinking about that scotish film - 'something' sunshine??? Very funny short film set in an abandoned asylum.

Oh, and 'Hello'.

 I hate, as in dislike intensely, these types of photos and that sort of thing..i.e Urban Exploring. I've tried to often but nah not for me.

You'd prolly not enjoy mine either.

I take it the fact that the sites are seemingly impossible to navigate, and come to that downright lethargic is due to the coding/freeness of it?*

Tried to look at the first...got so far then it jus grrrrrrrrrrrround toooooooooooo a stoooooooooooooooooooooop...the second I'd seen before and I tried harder but got no further than the first couple of clicks.

Welcome to the Boards. :)

*e2a::could be something todo with my impossibly shite connection tooo...goes off to boot router with a size 9 1/2 Lakais...bleddi Buddhist's player karma_killer with me electronics agin.grrrrrrr

It was quite slow and I only found the slideshow option after I'd clicked on the first photo. Then there were an awful lot of photos in the one slideshow - too many to concentrate on for long given the pause time between each pic.

I did enjoy looking at them thouigh

Mind you, I enjoy yours too

*wonders whether she just lacks specific taste*

yeh pretty much squelch free sites are never gonna be brilliant are they.

In fact I'd use* something like Pbase or FlickR Alias, they might do you better. :)

*If I was you and didnt wanna learn about web design, Riot Sky did a thread on photo storage bolt ons for websites a while back.

you are of course entitled to your opinion however there is no need to be rude. The site I use(fotopic) is not too bad to navigate and I would consider you had our computer checked out as I am yet to hear of it being slow it is not a free site but is however a cheap one so. But hey the site is for the photos not the navigation.

As for not enjoying Urban Exploration, not everyone is into the same thing.

I found the site very fast ( i do have 4meg connection though), easy to navigate and the photos are very good (regardless of if i like the subject or not)

good work!

He wasn't rude dude - just critical and he's an old man aren't you squelchy!!:p

hey alias. i occasionally use the same boards and have looked at a lot of your pics. keen on exploring!

They're alright, much of a 'sameness' to them - but that is largely down to the subject you have chosen to shoot. Do you take photographs of anything else?

450kb an image is too much. Compress them a little more - Q10 if you use Photoshop. The presentation could be a little bit better; add borders to your photos I reckon.

The photography's generally quite good, and some of them are excellent. Many individual images could do with specific requirements, but noone's going to critique them all. Maybe pick a few and see what people reckon.

A few are a bit too samey or weaker - thin it down slightly. One appears to be duplicated twice.

i really like fotopic - i use them quite a bit

free

ftp access and click ona pic to move forward and up to index at any pont - not sure how it can be simpler really

hey sorry I have started to resize the latest galleries however did not used to as did not know how to lol.

I know the subject is a bit samey but my main site is for documentation purposes not photography thats why they are not that good.

just wanted to say l LOVE this kind of thing...thanks for posting yr link!

i recently posted on paolos thread in "london" section about it..it's been ages since i went into to places like this (other than the squat i mentioned)

so if you and other people are going exploring PM me:cool: im up for it as long as it isnt outside london..i would say organise an "outing" but i know it is technically illegal but do it by PM..?

ps..im not really a photographer......... im a would be "conceptual artist" darling;) i just like the atmosphere in these places...it would be tempting to borrow my flatmates camera for something like this
