Heavy Cop Presence at Herne Hill Station

Are you seriously trying to claim those are knife-sniffing dogs??
Very few police dogs are sniffing anything. If it was an alsatian it will probably just be an ordinary dog in case someone runs or causes problems. Most drug sniffing dogs are spaniels.

... it wouldn't look half as impressive with just the spare change guy and his dog to reassure!
Now here's a thought- maybe that dog is a sniffer dog too?

I can't believe someone got shot behind Bandidos. I love that place.

My partner was on a Thameslink train which was heavy with police - someone reported to have a gun had jumped on a train at Loughborough Junction, and they were staking out all the stations on the line.

Yes. Bad things happen, even in the places you love hatz. Amazing, isn't it? :p

There are bad people out there.

I for example, used to love* The Harriers pub near Loughborough Junction. The next thing I know, there's shootings and all sorts going on in there, and it gets closed down and now there's just a big hole in the ground.

*may not be true. I may be getting confused with "scared"

Maybe they should change the sign to 'don't siesta, come pop a gun in someones ass'

Good thinking bat girl. You don't want to be having a bit of a snooze if there's a threat of cap in ass action, eh?

The police man asked me to walk past him normally so the dog could smell my bag!!

Very cute dog though! :D

Having said that, there's a yellow MURDER sign on Norwood Road. Someone got shot round the back of Bandidos House of Fajitas. :(

A couple of types (probably up from Brixton I expect) drove round to the railway arches behind Bandidos & were followed by the police. One of them got out & took a couple of shots at the Rozzers before making his escape into Croxted Road. Driver was caught apparently.

I don't know if you've ever walked through those arches 'round midnight but it's weird - like a David Lynch film. I had to take some Environmental Health guys behind there one Saturday a couple of years back. We left the residential calm of Croxted Road and were first met by a fox who scowled and ran off. Then we walked past the back of the Chinese take away where a bunch of guys in the kitchen were engaged in an argument over a card game (or mah yong or something), then past a couple of massive blokes who stood in the alley saying nothing, presumably on the look-out because there were some parties or something taking place in the work shops. To cap it all, when we walked through to the second row of arches (it's a bit of a maze) we found a childrens' bouncy castle lit up with multi-coloured lights but nobody in sight. At which point environmental Health told me I'd better go back (they were looking for an unlicensed rave/disco). Surreal.

During daylight there are some really nice people and interesting workshops in those arches & last year in the summer there was a nice arts & crafts open day on the other side of Croxted Road. Worth checking out if they run it this year, although a bit noisy if you live adjacent.

Now I thought that was a search and they couldn't do that.
As far as I know there is no legislation at all covering being sniffed by a dog as you walk past! Equally there is no obligation on you to cooperate with a request to walk in a particular way (though they could, I suppose, make it a condition of entry to the (privately controlled) train station).

If the dog gives an indication then that would probably amount to sufficient grounds for a stop and search.
