Poll should be

Wake up Dead - Megadeth
Seek and Destroy - Metallica
Metal Thrashing Mad - Anthrax
Back in Black - AC/DC
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
Angel of Death - Slayer
South of Heaven - Slayer
Bullet in the Head - RATM
Mouth for War - Pantera
Stinkfist - Tool
2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden.

I would vote songs by Slayer or AC/DC, generally.

best to just have a poll of bands youd headbang to lol.. ;)

Poll seems a bit weak when it comes to head banging :

Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
Morbid Angel - Blessed Are The Sick
Carcass - Heartwork

haha I love all them bands, the bloody rock. I saw Dumpies Rusty Nuts with a dodgy line up of Saxon (Oliver Dawson) a few years back at a biker festival in East Anglia \m/

Still I wouldn't have picked running free for Maiden \m/

Probably something by Status Quo:p

Whole Lotta Rosie was the school disco headbanging anthem though.

Was headbanging a UK thing? where did it start? NWOBHM or way before?

i'm liking the cut of your jib, especially you're voting choice :)

damn, never even thought about the quo.

i was so so close to sticking whole lotta rosie in, its probably my most favorite song ever from ac/dc. but i also like the way that highway to hell was released just before he died, it adds to the heavy metal allure

shazbot, nanu nanu

The best thing I love about going to smaller Metal festivals is that the atmosphere is always excellent, people are really friendly and everyone has a good time. Unlike Download where loads of fuckers turn up and rob tents etc. When festivals get to big they start to suck and turn into a right rip off.

Anyone going to "Priest Fest"?

ac/dc although I would have gone for whole lotta rosie (or riff raff).

other tracks that come to mind would include UFO (doctor doctor), whitesnake (dont break my heart again), scorpions (coast to coast)

or get yer mate to be Bonn Scott and carry you round on his shoulders

Our singer and lead guitarist did that at a gig in some shit hole in Kent. The guitarists lead came out the amp and they almost had a fight on stage.
This was followed up with a bass player farting so badly he almost choked us off stage :D. Good days :D

Are we talking about straight forward head banging or the more elaborate figure of eight movement.

Looking at the three songs I put forward they would be more suited to the neck destroying figure of eight.

My hair didn't allow me to do the figure of eight. :)

Oh aye, I played drums for years in a metal power-trio. Budgie used the same rehearsal space as us, and we idolized them. Why aren't they in the poll?

Because they were shit. :)

Well done for the drums, though, phil. Did you cast yourselves in the mould of Robin Trower, that other great exponent of the power trio?

Well smaller festivals are always better, metal or not. Downloads not bad really as far as big festivals go, but I really don't think I can be bothered to go this year*. It's still really friendly and got a great atmosphere but yeah an increase in idiots unfortuantley, and it wasn't nice at all when things kicked off in 2007.

*unless AC/DC play maybe.:D.
