Head found at Arbroath Beach!!!!!

I admit to laughing out loud when a polis on the radio said: "We are treating this as a murder enquiry".

I would imagine they have little choice other than to follow the book for press questions just now. Partly to keep the coverage going in the absence of an obvious local connection.

There may have been an autopsy last night but it will take a few days to get all the pathology/toxicology through & until then, they may not have a lot more to go-on.

Aye, fair enough. But it was kind of an inconguous thing to say, given the circunmstances. There must be a better stock phrase in the book, surely?

I see now, though, that they seem to think the victim was a Brechin woman.

It was at the end of the day & yes, I was turning for home - I'd been for a stroll up near the Cairn O'Mount & then the foot of one of the Glens.

Radio Scotland reporting that a suitcase full of body parts has been recovered from Arbroath Harbour now. :(

Aye, the police think they took her there on the bus

Horrible, horrible thing to happen. Poor woman :(

Now they have found a burning body at Carnoustie:

TWO greenkeepers at the famous Carnoustie golf links were in shock last night after finding a man's burning body on one of their courses.

Head greenkeeper Steve Mitchell and a young colleague saw something on fire near the 11th tee on the Buddon Links yesterday morning. Steve went to investigate and made the grisly discovery.

The greenkeepers put out the flames and called 999. Some of their colleagues were physically sick when they saw the charred corpse.

Police cordoned off the scene and are working to find out who the dead man was and how he died.

They have done it again:

Tayside Police on the telly last night:

At the moment we're treating it as a suspicious death

No shit!

Back in the mid 90's when I was in England there was an incident where police found some prro sods head in a field in Cannock and his body was found in Manchester. West Mids Police actually went onj tv to say they were investigating 'foul play' and treating it as a murder. I was soooo sho0cked!

poor kids - they were only like 5-6 years old i think. scarred for life?

or hopefully young enough to forget about it quickly and block it out. poor kids man, that must have been 'orrible.

And poor owner of the head/hands. bit grizzly all round if you ask me.

He has been identified now:

Tayside Police said a post-mortem examination had been carried out on 51-year-old Robert Higgins and that his death was being treated as suspicious.

The remains were discovered by greenkeepers at the Buddon golf course at about 0640 BST on Wednesday.

Police confirmed that when officers were called to the 11th tee Mr Higgins' body was still smouldering.

Erm....

He just wanted to smoke some green and chill out... *shrugs*

-------

the police wood like to talk to anyone who was within range of the course last night.

I just don't understand how somebody could Faldo something like this.

-------

it might've been Tony Cracklin'?

He keeps several irons in the fire.

..it was pretty rough on the poor guy.

--------

D'you think he might have been making a toasted sand wedge?

--------

Burn-hard Langher?
Vijay Singed?

--------

Funnily enough the green where the body was found was still in decent Nick(laus) after the incident.

Apparently it's suicide - the guy set fire to himself after saying "I cannae go on any Langer"

There is no fair way to say it but what is it about your part of the world that brings out the complete bastard in Aberdonians? :o
