Haye vs Valuev heavyweight boxing bout

Rubbish.

Its *much* easier to punch down with power than it is to punch up with power over a period of time.

Add to the that ridiculous size advantage that Valuev has -

Height:
David Haye - 6ft 3ins
Nikolai Valuev - 7ft 2ins

Weight:
David Haye - 15st 8lbs
Nikolai Valuev - 22st 8lbs

Reach:
David Haye - 81ins
Nikolai Valuev - 88ins

Fist:
David Haye - 11ins
Nikolai Valuev - 15ins

Waist:
David Haye - 34ins
Nikolai Valuev - 48ins

Chest:
David Haye 44ins
Nikolai Valuev - 52ins

Neck:
David Haye - 19 ins
Nikolai Valuev - 22ins

Biceps:
David Haye - 17ins
Nikolai Valuev - 18ins

Also, Valuev has a much heavier head. Simple mechanics would dictate that that makes it much harder to knock out

So if you are the big tree
We are the small axe
Ready to cut you down (well sharp)
To cut you down...

So you agree.

*We* are the small axe. No *I* am the small axe.

Again - I want Haye to win, and I dont doubt his ability or his punching power, but this - for all the talk and the hype - is no more than a King Canute holding back the sea scenario.

Haye says he can do it, he believes he can do it, but when faced with the actual practicalities, as much as I want him too, he wont physically be able to.

((((((Lovely David Haye))))))

When does the actual top bill kickoff tomorrow? I don't care about the undercard, I need to see if Haye v Valuev fits in with a pals club schedule :D

there an old boxing adage that good a big one will always beat a good litle one .haye will have use his greater mobility to keep away from the big man but it means going twelve rounds

Got £5 on a Valuev win in rounds 5 or 6 at 33-1 each and just covered myself with a £10 bet at evens for him to win the entire thing.

And while you watch the video... remember that Haye just weighed in 1 stone heavier than in any fight he's ever fought. Not an ounce of flab on him, which cannot be said for the Russian.

valuev to get a knock down in the first two rounds and fight stoped in the the 3rd...

its impossible.... sod technique, sod speed, sod anything.... this guy is a giant, has insane height and weight advantage and a seven inch reach advantage..... no fucking way can haye win this... failing a heart attack on valuev'a part

its the simpsons and the fan man all over again

I am sure Haye has the skill, strength and intelligence to beat the Russian.

Size has nothing to do with resisting being knocked out. Dolphins regularly attack Great White Sharks by hitting them hard in the gills.

Haye is just gonna be like a dolphin. The Russian is fucked. :D

I reckon Haye'll just dance around him, picking him off with body shots and tire the big guy out.

He's been 220 / 230 twice before, and always had probelms boiling down for the cruiser limit, this will help his strength and stamina.

But... he aint gonna be in there dancin, he's gonna be in there bangin.

Can't wait.

Having a Fight Night Rd 4 Heavyweight tournament with a cpl of pals first. My fighter is called Coffin Nails Last  and have been watching boxing since 7am this morning non stop :) so am well up for this.

Why do they bother with all the different weight divisions then?
There is a difference of course. A Flyweight aint gonna be able to take a punch from a Heavyweight, nor is a Flweight really going to be able to hurt a Heavyweight. So weight classes are there for fairness, to level the playing field and to prevent injury (so to speak) cos the bigger you are the stronger you mostly are.

There originally was 8 weight classes, now there's 17 now, which makes it easier for people to become 5 and 6 weight world champions, it was harder with the original 8.

And funnily, the actual lowest weight class name belongs to the ladies, they have a Pinweight class.

A mate who saw the Valuev - Holyfield fight said the big guy was lucky to win agin a well past it Holyfield, cant see him beating a young fit strong challenger like Haye.

I can see 8 different possible endings and I've thought them all through very meticulously, very very meticulously, and each are as valid as the next. I've actually watched their last 20 fights (between them)

Can't really call it tbh, but I want Haye to win as he's fresh and beautiful and a proper old skool Heavyweight champ in the making, nice height, great weight, flash, skillful, exciting. He should be champ.

So, putting my neck out, I'll go for a Haye stoppage  because that's what I want to happen.

But can see him getting stopped out in the first round too. :hmm:

This has had me considering all the options too, more than any fight in a long time,as you say there are so many scenarios.

Haye can do it,he could go too,Valuev could clinch and lean on him and exhaust him,Valuev could be so body-bashed he could rabbit puch and get D Q'd.

Freddy Roach is tipping Haye and has no vested interest,i think he knows a thing or two;)

anyone know what time this is actually happening.

if it interferes with match of the day i'm going to be pissed, and then watch match of the day.

What, Hayes is going to end up a Russian trawler deck in amongst a pile of tuna fish?

If it was JUST abot size then, yeah,Valuev walks it,but it's not.

Haye has the speed the smarts and the fitness to win.

Valuev is big, sure but he is at best an average boxer,OK average don't win World titles, but it did here.

If it were JUST about size Willard would've beat Dempsey and Carnera would've retired unbeaten instead of a 5'10" Italian.:)

sky seem to reckon 10 and seeing as they are putting it on ill go with that.

Still not entirely sure though
