Haye vs Valuev heavyweight boxing bout

"We expect to walk out just after 10pm," he said. "I would say the fight will start around 10.15pm."

And if the co-promoters, Sauerland Event, insist on the earlier start? "If we're sitting in the changing room, what, are they going to try to get us out early? We'll say no," added Booth. "If they want to turn the TV cameras off, let them. They're not going to cancel a big event for the sake of 10 minutes. We have a contract and we've honoured it. I expect them to do the same."

So it could be anytime :D

Wonder if Adam Booth's taken the time difference into account- if they expect to walk out just after 10pm German time then the fight will start just after 9 UK time anyway

Not sure about him saying if they want to turn the TV cameras off let them either, I fear that would affect Haye's revenue from Sky rather more badly than a clash with The X Factor :D

yes, it's been pretty tasteless from Haye for sure.
Nah! he's got no pedigreee as a Heavyweight, no way to sell himself except for being a motor mouth, Ali was the same before his 1st fight with Liston, he was calling Liston al sorts of names, making a nuisance of himself.

Haye is no different IMO.

i think its hilarious that haye thinks valuev is the ugliest man he's ever met

come november 7th david haye will be the ugliest man david haye has ever met

he'll get his arse handed on a plate

his own mother wont recognise him

Ali did it with wit and a bit of humour,Haye is doing it without those qualities

I never saw the Valuev v Holyfield fight but because of all this hype about the weekends fight I checked it out on Youtube, and it seemed to me that Holyfield 'boxed' better. Valuev just seemed to rely purely on his size and looked more comfortable but didn't really 'box'. I wonder how much the judges could unconsciously think Valuev looks better because of his size rather than actually seeing any boxing ability.

Still - looking forward to viewing this one, so long as I get a decent link for streaming.

I can't help but like Haye. He's a good south london boy, decent talent and movement, mouthin' off and making a name for himself as best he knows. Giving away a 6 stone weight advantage is something else, if he pulls this off he'll have made history. I think his demeanour is what boxing needs right now, I like a bit of WWF-style bullshit to add some spice to the spectacle.

Reminds me of the old Prince Naseem days... there's been nobody around with that kinda attitude in a while. Love or hate Naz, he = ratings. And the image of him in the early days regularly sticking his chin out, arms down, laughing at his opponent for punching thin air, is something that I'd never seen in boxing before. Throwing punches from crazy angles, then fucking his life up big-time... it's a legacy that's Haye's for the taking!

Well not quite. But anyways, why not spice up a confrontation with some abusive tongue-in-cheek riling?

I've just seen a photograph of the two fighters and Haye is a v. brave man.

I half expect Valuev to say 'If he dies, he dies'.

Altho as I haven't read the thread, someone's probably already made the Rocky III(?) connection...

I think Haye will win, on points or a KO.

Despite the size of Valuev, you have to take into consideration that Haye is a far better boxer who has power and speed. Add to this that he has been training with a huge sparring partner wearing platform shoes and all his training has been focused upon getting inside the long reach of Valuev.

After seeing a few videos of Haye fighting... I am starting to feel sorry for Valuev. Haye is a very strong fighter, who has gained about a stone in weight recently - all muscle, no flab. He has a fucking hard punch too! Sheer power like Tyson.

And let's not forget that Haye punches like Christiano Ronaldo and Ronaldinho play football, with massive amounts of misdirection and speed. The Russian needs to keep his wits about him to survive this fight.

yup,i think we are on the same wavelength

the height difference is an advantage for Haye,he will be throwing power shots at upper shoulder height knowing they will land on Valuev,no problem about finding the chin, they all count! this fight is about the body punches,i think.

So,what do ya reckon T?
I can see 8 different possible endings and I've thought them all through very meticulously, very very meticulously, and each are as valid as the next. I've actually watched their last 20 fights (between them)

Can't really call it tbh, but I want Haye to win as he's fresh and beautiful and a proper old skool Heavyweight champ in the making, nice height, great weight, flash, skillful, exciting. He should be champ.

So, putting my neck out, I'll go for a Haye stoppage  because that's what I want to happen.

But can see him getting stopped out in the first round too. :hmm:

I read that Valuev is really not much cop and that his size difference is his only real advantage...
The question with Haye is his chin, you don't need to be the biggest puncher to land the best shot, anyone can land the 'money' shot. Valuev is punching down, potentially onto the top of the head the way Haye bobs & weaves etc. and if he catches him on the top of the bonce with a clean shot, stuns Haye, comes in firing, he might just overpower him and stop him. :(

But speed kills.

People who's opinion I respect in boxing reckon Haye can do it.

Rubbish.

Its *much* easier to punch down with power than it is to punch up with power over a period of time.

Add to the that ridiculous size advantage that Valuev has -

Height:
David Haye - 6ft 3ins
Nikolai Valuev - 7ft 2ins

Weight:
David Haye - 15st 8lbs
Nikolai Valuev - 22st 8lbs

Reach:
David Haye - 81ins
Nikolai Valuev - 88ins

Fist:
David Haye - 11ins
Nikolai Valuev - 15ins

Waist:
David Haye - 34ins
Nikolai Valuev - 48ins

Chest:
David Haye 44ins
Nikolai Valuev - 52ins

Neck:
David Haye - 19 ins
Nikolai Valuev - 22ins

Biceps:
David Haye - 17ins
Nikolai Valuev - 18ins

Its just not possible. Just not possible. Valuev is 11 inches taller, 7 *fucking* stone heavier, and has a 7 inch longer reach.

His chest is nearly 4 and a half foot around!

I want Haye to win, I really do. But its a physical impossibility.

Valuev by a stoppage in round 6 or 7 after hayes has punched himself out through all the upward aiming. Its *amazing* that every single bookmaker has Haye as favourite. Amazing.

Hmmm. Betfred has the fight to end in rounds 7-9 at a tasty 6/1

And Paddy Power have Valuev to win in Round 6 at 33/1 - and in round 7 at 33/1.

Gonna put some money on both
