I saw them once. Wolves wulfrun hall. I was wondering why everyone was leaving at the start. It was because they were shit.

That's where I saw them

You really have nothing nice to say at all, do you?

BTW I don't like them now,in fact I dislike them with a passion now but I was into acid and 19, kinda worked with acid.

Got plenty love. Look at my hilarious photo from 15 years ago. They should have shot that man. Ooh have you got a new camera?

And the Cherry Tree in Welwyn Garden City (my old regular hangout) is now a Waitrose. :(

What is it with the rock venues of our yoof?

the worst one is the Rainbow, where I saw Peter Tosh, is now some dodgy cultish church.

:(

I saw em at Stonehenge Peoples Free Festival, June 1984, you know ....

except I can't remember a single damn thing about it .. :o
you should get the album then, to remind you of what you missed! great version of watching the grass grow on there.
The mighty mighty Hawkwind were (as I've mentioned previously) the second band I ever saw - Levitation tour, with Ginger Baker at Liverpool Empire. They were superb, as they have been most other times I've seen them - all except on the dire Chronicles tour in 85, and when I saw them about two months ago. they were really really fucking shit then. And somebody should shoot that useless bastard Dumpy!

Calvert era was their best - Quark is a work of bloody genius. Tho Space Ritual isn't too fare behind.

i went to see their allnighter at brixton academy because i thought they did 'the age of aquarias' :o I took things i shouldnt have and kept shouting out for them to play it

That was hilarious. I kept trying to tell you they didn't do Age of Aquarius, but you weren't having any of it :D It was a result getting you to go to the gig in the first place seeing as you used to slag them off everytime i put a record on. Mind you it was the anniversary gig you went to which was most excellent. Even the bit where Sam Fox came on and did Masters of the Universe was good

I haven't seen Hawkwind for a few years now. I used to go and see them regularly until Arthur Brown joined. Then i saw them at the Astoria one time and laughed all the way through the show. Arthur had turned them into some sort of hippy Spinal Tap :( I prefer seeing Space Ritual now. Nik's still got the old magic.

My first Hawkwind gig was the Robert Calvert benefit at the Brixton Academy. I sadly never got to see Calvert fronting them. They were really good until Huw Lloyd Langton left...he was my favourit guitarist. I even saw him doing a solo show at the (now sadly gone) Stage Door in Scarborough.

Dave Brock is a bit of a wanker. Me and Rocketman interviewed him once. He's got an ego the size of a planet. Alan Davey was nice though...

yeah, everyone says Brock is a wanker..but he also seems to be the only one lef tin with any talent - he was certainly the only one who could sing when i saw 'em.

I only saw Calvert at a solo gig in... 87 i think, fucking brilliant it was.

That must have been ... interesting ...

She came bounding on and due to the the state we were in no one could work out who it was. One of our mates was convinced it was Toyah, but then i remembered that Sam Fox had done a cover of Gimme Shelter with Hawkwind for a charity record. No one believed me until quite near the end of the song when she was rubbing up and down against Lemmy :D
Lemmy wasn't complaining...
she did quite a good version of it actually...surprisingly....

You didn't really need drugs to realise how weird it was watching Sam Fox singing Master of the Universe :D

How long did Arthur Brown join them for? AFAIK he's for quite some time of late been doing gigs under his own name. Certainly no sign of him the other weekend when we saw Hawkwind -- consisting of Dave Brock, Alan Davey, and a drummer who was the dead spit (in playing style) of Simon King.

A few years. Probably about 5 or so. Thank fuck he's left. I can go and see them again now :)

Recommended! Send word if you hear of any London gigs soon .... are you London based??

They usually do a winter solstice gig at the Astoria (better when they did the Academy IMHO). I'll keep you posted. Yes i am London based....
