Hawkwind Documentry on BBC4

 Just saw me old mucker Ron Tree (bassist, I've jammed with in the past) - Nice one

I saw him front Hawkwind a few times and he was there at an interview i did with the Hawks once but he didn't say anything as he'd only just joined them.

I loved it when i first saw him fronting Hawkwind. I thought Robert Calvert had come back from the grave. He was bloody brilliant.

Then they got bloody Arthur Brown, who nearly turned them into Spinal Tap :D

And don't get me started on Captain Rizz

Matthew met one of his heroes, Dave Brock, leader of veteran rock band Hawkwind while working at LBC. Brock couldn't believe his ears when Wright started singing along to all the Hawkwind records they played that morning, getting all the lyrics right; something Brock has sometimes struggled with on stage. Dave invited Matthew to join the band to sing his favourite Hawkwind song, Spirit of the Age, at London's Astoria Theatre in December 2003. In 2005 he appeared on the Hawkwind album, Take Me to Your Leader, providing guest vocals on a new version of "Spirit of the Age".

WTF? :D

He is quite shy. I have some tales to tell. Ron is a veteran of the 'Battle of the Beanfeast'. Spoke to him recently gigging with his band 'Sewer Suckers'. ;)

Ooh, and I just noticed that the Hawkwind documentary is followed by this.

Hmmm.... I'm beginning to detect some kind of a theme to BBC4 tonight... ;)

Whoaahhh... Change of schedule. Another Hawkwind documentary!

Fantastic. Brought back a load of good memories. I managed to catch them three times in the late 70's and couple of times in the 80's; once when they were briefly the Hawklords with Robert Calvert fronting. I still have a copies of the original Urban Guerilla and Silver Machine singles.

Seen HW more times than is physically good for me & met quite a few of them over the years, including a really nice & only slightly stoned conversation with one of them in a truly disgusting flodded festival toilet once - howzat for dedication to the fans! :D

I now have a strange desire to play several albums I've not stened to in ages, long into the night.

It clashed with other stuff I was recording on my skybox @ 9pm and 11.50 so I've got it set to record at 2.50 and hope it don't piss down as it sends my dish skewiff.

I've necked a few Tamazepam and got some ace skunk to get into the spirit of things. Got to walk the dogs first so that should wake me up a bit.

My favourite Hawkwind track, 'Shouldn't Do That' was used over the opening scene in Tuesdays 'Life On Mars' so all in all a pig in shit week for me. :p

The lovely Stacia must be about 60 by now. :D

me too, seen hawkwind live more than any other band ever  :)

Very well put together doc - I loved it, and I'm not a big Hawkwind fan, but might investigate a bit further...

Lemmy, in particular was brilliantly sarcastic throughout

I can play 'Hurry On Sundown' and when I heard it on the telly last night it sounded much too fast. So I dug out some old albums today and it is fucking fast. I've been playing it ploddy for years.

I guess the clue is in the title. :D Fuckin clueless, me.
