Have you turned the central heating on yet?

Central heating is bad for you. It's systematic of the unnatural, unhealthy, hermetically sealed environments that people create for themselves these days. I bet if you're really quiet at night you can even hear the bugs multiplying and all the creepies from outdoors heading your way to escape the cold....

and i would really like some please because i'm wearing 3 layers, and I have no feeling left in my fingers.

stupid cheap flat with no heating...

I've got a storage heater, so I don't have the "on for an hour" option. It's either on or off, and it's been on low for about 2 weeks.

I'd rather spend money on my gas bill than in the pub :)

My younger brother is staying with us during the weeks to attend the local college. He's used to utter luxury so I've relented and put the heating on for an hour when he wakes up. The bathroom is utterly freezing without it.
I find it too warm with the heating on. I'd much rather layer on the jumpers and not inflict dry skin on myself (this flat does need bursts of heating tho as it tends to get damp).

Our heating is communal, we have massive tanks heated at the top of the block of flats.

so the council decides when it's time to turn the heating on.

it's been "officially on" for about a month now, but I've run round and turned all the radiators off, (Shh don't tell WoW! ) as Iagree with eastender about central heating being bad for you.

Until I get cold, obviously. That'll be for about week at the end of January.

Given this confusing weather I've been turning it on and off and few times, but I think we're settling into 'on' territory. Shame it works least in the bedrooms, though!

Funnily enough, WoW would be one of the first people I'd have guessed would have a propensity for moaning about the cold.

Sometimes, you can just tell....;)

Turned ours on yesterday - an hour in the morning and a couple more at night.

It's not quite so cold today as it was yesterday though, so I might turn it off again tomorrow (would do it now, but that'd involve moving the kitchen table....and all the crap on top of it   ......again. :D )

Have'nt had it on at all yet, even when it does get chilly I don't put it on that much, central heating makes me feel a bit flu-like . I've got a mate whose mum has'nt turned off her central heating since last winter  ,even during the height of summer all the raditors in her house were on constantly  - I remember being in that house a few months ago and having to leave cos the heat was making me feel faint!!!

crazy!! :D

:(

What a loon, you just don't care do ya!

I wish I had FCH or even a single radiator but it's electric heaters all the way here, I mainly use them to clad the holes round the windows where the wind blows in, it's cheaper that way as last weekend I had two on for the whole weekend and it cost £7!

I haven't got central heating. But I have got some of these:

Note for younger readers: it's a pullover. :)

I didn't vote because there is no ' I hardly ever turn ours on because this is a really warm house and we always leave two windows open but just occasionally it's so bloody cold that the heating isn't enough and I have to light the woodburning stove as well'

Despite this my right hand has still turned to ice (not my left one though  )

Guessing your right hand is the mouse hand?? The mouse sooks all the heat out of your hand, I noticed it some years ago, I can be 99% toasty but my right hand will be cold.

When will someone invent a heated mouse??

We have the same heating as tobyjug, though our radiators seem to heat up quicker than his, if we chuck loads of wood on t'fire. The fire goes on every day coz it heats the water, but it doesn't go on til 10pm or so in the summer and usually goes on about 4-6pm in the winter.

I have put ours on, but it's a waste of time because mr moomoo has a smoke in the living room and we have to open the patio door to let the smoke out!

My room is nice and warm though

That is it! I realised later that I was getting 'mouse-bite'.

How about a mouse with an in-built mitten feature?? Toasty!

Ours went on a while ago. I get stupidly cold incredibly easily, which is a shame as the boyf is pretty warm most of the time, so arguements about the temperature of the house are quite common!
But despite having set the timer on it, it doesnt seem to come on at the right times or at all, so we might just have to get the repair man out!

Not only that, the clothes were taking forever to dry and our tumble dryer doesnt seem to work at the moment so its a bit of a necessity if we want clean clothes!!!

I hate being cold.

ours is on but we keep getting too hot so i may turn it off again until it gets really chilly. i quite like it being on though cos it dries out the towls for the next day. hm dilemmas dilemmas...

If Im cold I put my heating on, whatever time of year it is - if Im cold, Im cold!

As for the bills, well my heating is paid for as a part of the maintenance fee Im charged all year round, so I pay for it regardless of whether or not I use it. No way am I gonna pay for heating and not use it if I'm cold!

Yup.

Lived in my flat without central heating for far too long. Now I've got it, I take advantage of it. That said, having it on for five hours yesterday - albeit with the radiators turned well down - was probably a bit excessive. It was cold enough to necessitate wearing a jumper when I got in in the afternoon. By the time I'd had my tea, I was walking around the flat in a T-shirt. :o

Not yet, in fact we've been having the patio door open every evenign to let the cat raom freely - our flat is in a well insulated block - we only need to have the heating on for an hour to warm up the flat in the winter and then it gets far too muggy - there's no happy medium really.
