Have you noticed that when you have a barbecue...

i've been told i'm doing a BBQ this coming sunday for some other people who won't be at glastonbury. i don't *think* i am, though.

The men always take over the cooking?

Why is that? After all, they're hardly first into the kitchen on a normal day are they?

Men do something (in this case cooking) and you use it as an excuse to moan about them not doing it. I have no sympathy with people who moan like this. It hardly encourages you to do more of something but rather makes you think I helped out and rather than be grateful she nags me even more, I might as well not have bothered.

I do a mean BBQ btw. However, I'm also quite handy in a kitchen.
I generally prefer to cook when its interesting though e.g. a BBQ or a party. Cooking fishfingers n chips during the week is hardly exciting is it.

The BBQ is the only time I'm allowed to be the chef. Most of the time, my woman prefers to do the cooking as she sees fit. It's not my lack of wanting to help (far from it), it's her perfectionism. So yay, BBQ! :)

My husband does almost all the cooking, he enjoys being in the kitchen and so do most of my male friends. I think you're wrong about men and cooking moomoo.

I wish they would help with cooking the rest of the time tbh

objection m'lud. Most of my mates are really, really into cooking... afrernoons spent trawling remote parts of london for obscure delis having now replaced record shopping. And having always cooked for myself since the age of eleven I have always been very into cooking and can't imagine a day without cooking at least one full meal.

In fact, from my experience, You can bet you get a group of thirty-something guys together you'll find they get more animated about the correct spice blend for a cous-cous tangine, paella or al'arriabiatta sauce than chicks, drugs, music, film, football or any of the more traditional topics.

on the other hand, whilst most girls are decent cooks few i know are quite as obsessional (passionate?) about food as blokes i know.

that said, a lot of blokes are still fucking lazy when it comes to washing up and cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen which is inexcusable.

not over here

Blimey all you wriggly little fish threw yourselves on moomoo's bait didn't ya...............

:D

and whilst yes, as the examples on this thread show, a lot of men do do the cooking............doesn't mean mine and maybe moomoo's experience of it is any less valid !

:hmm:
