Zane Lowe said there was one with 'flag' written on it and that he "liked out the box thinking".

Out of his box more like. 'kin idiot.

what's a disabled platform? Is that where you had to go?
A disabled viewing platform - they're at the major stages for people with mobility issues. It means you can sit down and still see what's going on as they're raised up (apart formt he one at the acoustic stage which was fucking useless as it was only about a foot off the ground so you couldn't see anything if anyone was standing in front of it)

That's just laziness!

I can't stand these twats either.

The only acceptable message you could have on one is 'ME RECOGNISING MYSELF ON TELLY IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU SEEING YOUR FAVOURITE BAND.'

Because my daughter sat on my mobile, breaking the screen so I couldnt read texts... the flag serves as a meeting point and since we dont go near the front and have a very long pole we hope it doesnt cause anyone else any inconvenience. Many festie goers have been glad to have it near them cos weve waved it for others to find each other in a crowd. Its very useful if kids need to pop and use the loo or stuff, old enough to go alone but difficult even as an adult to find your starting point in a huge crowd... must be even harder for a 10/12 year old

but they always fucking do. Just think about it - if you're in a crowd, it's inconcievable that your flag isn't blocking some people's view of a band they'd quite like to see, thanks.

It's selfish, and there are other ways to locate people

That's not why the majority have them though, is it? That massive I heart sausage one for example.

it's just a bit of fun - it's a festival after all. i suppose everyone should go to bed at midnight too?

i think you've missed the point. I've been stuck behind an array of flags thick enough that no matter how much i shifted to left or right I couldn't see a band I really want to watch. That's inconsiderate and has nothing to do with being a killjoy

:D

I'm going to come round to your house and wave a teatowel in front of the telly when you're watching your favourite programme.Just for fun.

that's ok, i'll just get in front of you so i can see the tiny band in the distance properly. looking at the stage is overrated anyway. it's more fun looking at the crowd, the flags and your mates enjoying themselves instead of getting on their high horses about a bit of cloth.

I never know if you're playing devils advocaaaaaat or being a bit of a dunce :D

Not when we generally stand RIGHT at the back so the kids can get to and from the loos and have 8m pole......( near the urinals usually- another good meeting point which the kids navigate from)
If you have a better way for a smallish child to relocate adults after nipping to the loo when the main stages are blasting and the mobile coverage is shite Id love to hear it Mr expert:) because werent generally 'IN a crowd' for safety reasons unlike the tards who go three rows from the front with their fucking heeeuge flag

ok, right at the back is probably ok, but that's not really what we're discussing.

Or a football team flag - there were a few of those. Very new Glastonbury.

One of the first flags to be waved in the crowd at Glasto many years ago was a Wolves flag... and it has been spotted every year since. Think he may be credited with starting the 'craze'

When I was a kid we used to have a flag at our camp but would never dream of taking it to wave in the crowd.

You asked whether anyone waved one, and what our excuse was... I gave it... you said it had better be good and to be honest the excuse is better than most people would give I think we also have more consideration for other people- both our group and others( hence where we place ourselves) than most all round so:p

I think flags are lame but i don't think i have ever had my view blocked by one before:confused:

normally they are like 10 foot above me.

At glastonbury this year i saw a few flags in the queens head and a few other tents.

That is really really silly.

Ah, it's purely an ergonomic thing rather than a 'How dare those evil mainstream people pollute my three days of carefree druggiedom with their real life things like flags of countries?', then?

Have you ever stood in the middle of the crowd in front of the stage at a festival waving a flag.

which you don't do.

i'm gonna go to glasto next year now with the biggest fuck off flag i can find.
it shall read 'don't lend dub a fiver'
it will be hilarious

which you don't do.

depends what you term 'a crowd'

Id say most of the main stage areas were a crowd wherever you stand.... you clearly have a different idea of 'crowd'

This year I couldnt find my mates near the back for lots of it without the flag to navigate back to and plenty of people round us were using our flag to navigate too

being a shortarse (and shortsighted) i'm not sure i've ever really "watched" a band, unless i'm literally front row i can't see a thing anyway, i just listen and dance
