I lived in North Clapham/Brixton borders in the early 90's, used to do me shopping in Electric Avenue. I go back occasionally.

I love Hackney - it has a certain smell about it which I reckon has something to do with the canals and rivers through it...

Spent 20+ years living in Vauxhall and Battersea/Clapham border (near Clapham Old Town) which were all a short tube or bus ride (or even walk, on a nice day with comfy shoes!) away so been there loads.

I used to have lots of friends there in the late 80s to late 90s and remember places like Brady's & the Hamilton in their heyday, also used to go in the Prince Albert a fair bit.

I know it very well and have always found it a very lively & friendly area with good pubs & reasonable shops*.

Still go to the Ritzy a lot as there is no cinema in the whole of Lewisham borough.

* though I've shopped there less since Robill's closed.

as we got off the tube,my brother turned to me and said "Welcome To The Terrordome",outside the station there was 3 police cars and a load of coppers pinning a bloke to the floor...

i have never been mugged (well once crappaly atempted by a group of arse hole kids who i told to fuck off) and i feel perfectly safe walking around brixton any time of day
however i am large and slightly mad looking so maybe that helps

can be pretty much paraphrased for me only substituting Brixton for Hackney...

I feel safer in Brixton than I do in Clapham for instance. Last time I was in Clapham at pub closing time, I definitely didn't feel as safe as I would in Bricko... too many pissed rar rar blokes picking fights

In my experience have bought class...though have bought polos .....the shit outweighs the good so would err not to in the future.... though is a bit of a lucky dip...rckon it is one big union of hobos....3 in 10 selling blinding uncut shit, the rest knocking out tat....

This is precisely what I always point out about Hackney compared with other 'posher' areas.

I once got a first rate deal at about 8am off some old black woman who basically had this huge bag of weed and said I could take as much as I wanted for the amount I wanted to pay. I paid a tenner, took what I thought was a fair amount, and went home for a decent smoke.

However, most of the time the guys on coldharbour lane are offering either totally shite deals or not even real weed...
