Never had any trouble with surly locals giving mis directions, they've always been helpful, even shopkeepers. Were you in the main/high street or out a bit??

Actually by that point I was out by Loughborough Junction. That may not even be in Brixton for all I know. And to be fair they weren't really surly, they were quite happy to send me down the wrong street and make me look like a bumpkin.:D

Yep. To the club in Coldharbour Lane (the 606?) that we went to a few times when unable to find a party (we weren't very well connected) and to a couple of gigs.

Everyday - I work there now - over the past 25 years I've lived in Stockwell, Kennington and Camberwell

Only for PRoD.

Go extremely pissed and dont remember a thing about the place. Except that the cabbie told us that if we were pulled over, we were mates and his name was Dave :D

I'm really surprised there are so few living in Brixton, maybe there should have been another option for I live next door to brixton..

I just wondered how many people who post here have actually been to Brixton?

I've only been to London twice and hated the place although I do like this forum.

One of my first memories is going into the prison with my mother, my uncle was on remand for arson and my mother brought him in a cooked chicken every week.

Maybe it because i'm a Brixtoner...

live in brixton all my life

because of that it's slightly difficult to give an objective viewpoint however i do feel that brixton is a nice place to live

i have never been mugged (well once crappaly atempted by a group of arse hole kids who i told to fuck off) and i feel perfectly safe walking around brixton any time of day
however i am large and slightly mad looking so maybe that helps

Never been. Only been to London once and that was on a family day trip about 7 years ago. But I like lurking around these boards. :D

Lived there for 3 years, live up the road now.

Splitter!

I've been visiting on and off since I was 0 years old.

Dad worked in Herne Hill for a few years when I was a kid.

The architects firm I did my year-out with designed the Eurolink Business Centre Effra Road, which was just finishing its conversion from a synagogue while I was there at the end of the 80s (Claire Frankl who ran the project was one of the best employers I've ever had).

Used to go to the Ritzy quite a lot in my late teens and 20s and shopping in Brixton when I lived just over the Clapham side of the border round the Millennium.

Went there once. Bought some drugs. Got mugged and paid £40 for a taxi back north of the river at 3AM.

I jest. Been loads over the years. Almost moved there, but settled for Borough instead because I'm to lazy to use the tube. Never felt threatened, or intimidated in anyway at any time of day, or night. Plenty of friends who have lived in Brixton or, Herne Hill in the past.

Have one of the funniest cab journey memories back to Shadwell one night after an Offline. Still makes me laugh when I think about it now :D

I've never been there (I must have passed through it having made plenty of visits to places like Crystal Palace, Sydenham, Anerley, etc) but my missus hates it - though she hasn't been there for donkeys years.
