Have you ever been on the telly?

Only twice.
The first time was a public access channel asking people on the street a question about a bond issue coming up. It was to bail out the schools. I said I supported it.

The other time the same channel was doing a story on a convention and they asked me a few questions.
Nothing really important though... :(

Is it such a bid deal in the US to be on the telly? Aren't there millions of channels, public access etc?

serious question :)

The Tripods were added in later :)

I don't believe you. That's tantamount to suggesting the Daleks were made out of dustbins and sink plungers. :(

Shame on you! Bin! Ban!

!

yes, most unfortunately. :(

i was interviewed after a gig, completely twatted and incoherent...

everyone i knew taped the programme and proceeded showing it at completely bizarre occasions,
such as in the middle of parties etc. where maximum humiliation could take place... :D

I was on dialadate but I wont elaborate as it's probably more suited to the drugs forum.

I was on a Bandzai promo on e4 and c4 about a year ago. On a c4 drama called Second Generation and I was also on a documentary with Space Girl on ITV 6 years ago (and been on several re-runs of the cheapo satalite channels) about us moving, it has been the bain of our lives, never do favours for mates who work for production companies :D

Not yet but i'm in a documentary which might appear on telly sometime in the future...unless i end up on the cutting room floor of course...

I've been on World Service radio though...with Matt Black from Coldcut and Mylo

I was on Kilroy about 15 years ago (he was a wanker).
My favourite TV appearance was in one of the "Otherside" documentaries on Channel 4 about Reclaim The Streets. You can see me standing in front of the truck on the M41 when they pulled the side curtains back to reveal it had a massive soundsystem sitting on the back. :D

a couple of times. i've been interviewed for the telly on protests a couple of times, i've taken part in question time-style debates and been in the audience on things like "the great monarchy debate" and "the ID cards trial" during the tory years and been given speaking roles. i've been seen on the news during demos too a couple of times. but the most meedja thing i've done was getting the job of pretending to be a competition winner for mtv2 last year, which basically meant i presented a documentary on kurt cobain for them, and got taken out to seattle for a few days, which was cool. the best thing was that the doc got cancelled for legal reasons so i've got one of the only copies and thus no-one has to see me being a fanboy whore for the camera.

I used to go to this amateur drama school thing when I was a kid so I landed a few extra parts in some TV progs and ads and such like.

Once I was in this advert for Cartoon Network as one of the main character's friends and though I never saw it on tele I was at a cinema and when the pre-film adverts were running that same advert came on - and so to my immense shock and horror momentarily saw myself on a 30 foot screen.

I was in the background in an episode of the Sweeney, the one with Patrick Mower playing an aussie armed robber.

A frisbee I threw on the pitch was on match of the day once, FA cup semi final 1988 Wimbledon v Luton at White Hart Lane, Fashanu had just scored the equaliser from a penalty, you couldn't see me though as I was under a pile of coppers being arrested for throwing a missile on the pitch

Oooh ooh! Just remembered - I won a foam frisbee off Saturday Superstore. I phoned in to a competition - you had to guess the next word in the song - shamefully it was Red Sky by Status Quo - I was about 8. I spoke to Mike Read (Although sadly not Mike Reid), and IIRC Lenny Henry.

Tsk - and to think these days kids win TVs and stuff...

I used to to do interviews quite a lot when I was an environmental activist - so I've been on local and national news loads of times - on French TV once.

I found it embarrassing to watch and stopped doing it - but I did enjoy watching news footage of me climbing over fences or being dragged away by police. :)

Before that I once walked behind Ken Livingstone while he was on Channel Four News.

I've also been in The Guardian and on Radio One Newsbeat. Someone at work heard it and recognised my voice. I reckon I nearly got sacked over that.

My frisbee was a free give away from McDonalds on seven sisters road, me and a couple of mates stormed in and demanded frisbees even though we were veggies and refused to buy anything (thats radical that is :D ). They gave us a pile of these luminous green frisbees to get rid of us and they all ended up on the pitch at the game.

Lots of very small, accidental Hitchcocks on programmes I've worked on - I had a habit of wandering into shot on the horizon :o And I was a "browsing customer" in a sofa ad once  I browsed masterfully.

I was on Blockbusters when I was 16. :o

When I was at university me and my friend went to the recording of "Carols from Kings" that is broadcast every year on Xmas Eve and they made us sit in the candle-lit stalls at the side, so we were in shot quite a bit. My granny was very excited.

I've been on radio quite a bit because of my job. The best time though was when I was doing work experience at BBC Norfolk and my car wheel fell off when I was on the way to work (which was quite scary, really), and I then appeared as a guest on the lunchtime programme. They appealed to the audience to try to find the wheel (which had rolled off never to be seen again), and to tell the audience how to tell if your car wheel's about to fall off! :D

Hendo made a documentary once about hunt sabs where he had to go undercover. He fitted right in and nobody suspected a thing! (Must have been the donkey jacket, worker's cap and little round specs).

Yes, but if I tell you about it I'd have to kill you.

<Looks around shiftily>

ps, clue: I'm not Alan Titchmarsh

You're Denis Leary!!!

Go on, he's long dead. Admit you nicked Bill Hicks' stuff, we won't mind.

And what's Catherine Keener really like?

I was on telly in Sothern TVs legendary "ON SAFARI!" TV game show for kids... featuring the OH-so-camp Christopher Biggins.

(i was right at the back, third row down from the back, thirty kids in from the left, episode 27)

remember that?

no?

ah well.

interview with Fergal Keane on News at 10 in July

Anti Poll tax outdoor benefit gig in Norwich years ago

And the most embarrassing, being a 'country maid with swelling hips and tumbling hair ' for a programme about the Victorian Broadland photographer Emerson on BBC2, when I was 15. Swelling bloody hips; I was mortified.
