Never been fired but I might have been if I'd worked in the private sector. I was working on loan in a minister's office in a different govt department to the one that employed me. One day I went in and was told to leave and return to my home department. I didn't do anything particularly wrong but a few minor screw ups over a few weeks was deemed too much. Actually, I was relieved as I'd had enough of the job and the minister - who was sacked himself in the next reshuffle :D The best thing was that my home dept had no job for me to do, so I got a few weeks off at their expense, watching the World Cup in France, which started the week after I got kicked out!

I got sacked when I was 19. I was waitressing in an Italian restaurant, the m'aitre de was a bit of a sleaze and routinely groped the waitresses, he slapped my ass as I walked past him so I up-ended a bottle of expensive red wine over his head in the middle of the restaurant floor.

What a waste.....:(

You could've at least used white wine!!!

not quite the same, but i worked in telesales once, I was shit, my fellow workers used to take the piss, said I couldn't sell central heating to cold people, water to thirsty people, that sort of thing

obviously my employers shared this view :(

they asked me to leave, but i managed to convince them to let stay for another 2 months so that i could pick up the paltry commission i had actually earned (about £250)

luckily for me, they paid a decent basic wage

so i didn't actually need to sell anything  fools :D

white wine wouldn't have had the interesting blood-dripping-down-his-face effect. And it just happened to be what I was carrying at the time. :p

never been formally sacked from a grown up job, though i ahve been told my services were no longer required a couple of times. been sacked from a shop job for thieving, and walked out of a couple cos the bosses were cunts (and there was nothing to thieve to make up for it).

I came close to being more than fired ...

When I were a bit wet behind the ears I worked in a laboratory and, being incredibly bored, I started mucking about with things of a pyrotechnic nature - firstly ammonium tri-iodide which just goes pffff ! when you touch it - releasing a cloud of iodine .....

.... then I thought I'd try adding nitric acid to toluene ... aiming to make DI-nitrotoluene (rocket fuel) rather than TNT ....

luckily for everyone concerned I blabbed to a colleague and I was told not to do it again by the boss .... :o

I no longer work in that sort of environment and only get to risk life and limb with my DIY electrical work at home

.

I've been sacked from loads of jobs, usually in some way related to my bad attitude. Although the best one was for backing a 38 tonne tractor unit over the transport manager's car :)

Knowing you, that doesn't surprise me.....

So why did you vote "travesty of justice".....:p

I've never had a 'career' job, but anyway. I once got 'fired' from a job two days before I was due to quit anyway for doing next to nothing. I thought it was a bit out of order given that I was only still there because they practically begged me to stay on for a few more days because they didn't have anyone to take over. Then as soon as they found someone I got the sack.

They were right to say I wasn't doing the job properly though.

I guess Tobyjug must have been fired at some point...

I was fired because I got pig sick of working for local government, fucked off for three months to Canada and never came back.

my first job in London was options trading on the LIFFE trading floor

I lost my job at the Wimpy when I was at school for giving away free chip and burgers to my friends :o
It's people like you that are ruining the economy!!!

Didn't you stop to spare a thought for the poor Wimpy shareholders that you were stealing from?!?!?!?

You should be ashamed. :o

I think you should send a groveling letter of apology to the bosses of Wimpy, along with a cheque to recompense them for the loses you caused.

:p

And you should apologise to your mates for getting them to eat Wimpy burgers as well.

:( I was only about 14, Wimpy burger's are nice we cooked them fresh on the spot. Once when there was only two of us on shift the immagration came in and took the turkish chef away

Not been fired, but was essentially (and illegally) constructively dismissed from a job. I told my evil boss in the name of openness that I was looking elsewhere and then after a few weeks she pressurised me to hand in my notice regardless of my job-finding status.

Too small a salary/role to be worth taking to court, frankly. And got offered a job a week after I handed in my notice :p
