Have you crowd surfed?

Well MY teenager said that when she goes to gigs she loses her shoes and everything but the nice bouncers put it all on the front of the stage and you can go and look for your stuff at the end. Although it doesn't always work and she went home from Enter Shikari with no shoes and a vest top on in December

Kids eh?

You don't have a teenager, you big liar

When I was a kid anything loose when into my hat which was then rolled up and shoved in a drop pocket, which was then buttoned up. Sorted.

Have you ever crowd surfed?

Are you a crowd surf hater?

I've only ever done it three times.

Twice at an Austrian doors concert. 2nd time purely cause I worked out it was the fastest way out of the mob to get to the toilets.

Once at a Green Day concert where they stamped your hand each time and you were only allowed three surfs up. Organised misbehaviour from the band that sing about living without warning. How ironic!

I hear that at Marylin Manso gigs they have a room for parents to wait in. So presumably after the kids have sung along to songs about killing them, they can let thier parents drive them home safely

I heard that at Decapitation gigs they actually have a FIRST AID ROOM! How ironic eh?

the teenager said a while ago that if you go crowd surfing you end up getting all the stuff nicked from your pockets. i've *never* heard of that happening and i'm not sure where she found that out from, and i don't think she's ever been to any gig where there's likely to be lots of crowd surfing. maybe mcfly.

More likely stuff will just fall out of your pockets as you get bounced around. Shoes are the worst, after all the bands finish at reading festival there's always a little group of shoeless people milling about in front of the stage peering at the ground. Of course they might just be scrounging bastards looking for other people's wallets...

I remember wondering whether I should stage dive at a Rancid gig, but I was frightened that I might get impaled on somebodies mohawk.

:D

Shocking isn't it.

Of course, it means that people like me don't need to buy shoes ever, we just go to Enter Shikari gigs and wait...

My claim to fame is dropping Eddie Vedder while he crowdsurfed:D
Not on purpose mind, but I was a bit drunk and didn't expect him to be surfing right at the back of the hall after I'd just come out of the toilets.

I used to in my yoof. Last time I attempted it was at a king prawn gig which must have been some time ago and I remember thinking how much effort it was now that I was slightly bigger and full of beer, didn't try after that.

Actually, thats not true, I just remembered I crowd surfed at Dour last summer, possibly to The Slackers.... I didn't chose to crowd surf though, some crazy Belgians just grabbed hold of my legs and decided i was going to go crowd surfing. :D

Was this a concert by the Doors playing in Austria, or a concert by an Austrian Doors cover band?

The best Doors cover band in the world ever. Five times better than the vastly inferior LA Doors. Unfortunately I think they gave up touring.

One time I ended up inside the gig early at the soundcheck and various people thought I was a roadie or something so didnt say anything whilst looking at me puzzled and wondering who the fuck I was. So I took advantage and went back stage and had a chat to the group whilst pretending to be the safety advisor. :D

So you had a perfect opportunity to kick the talentless bastard's head in and you didn't? For shame

Actually I have crowd surfed. But mainly as the fastest way of getting out of a crowd at various Reading Festivals in the nineties.

I once helped a girl in a wheelchair to crowd surf at a cooper temple clause gig. Some bloke wheeled her into the crowd and asked me to give him a hand lifting her up. So we picked her up and pushed her over everyone's heads. The bloke then folds up the wheelchair and chucks that forward as well, saying; "I hope the bouncers figure this out"

I too have crowdsurfed a few times, but I always made sure i was wearing soft shoes as I have been booted in the head by one too many fat steel toe-capped goths in my time

edited image out cos i was beaten to it.

LOL.

I have crowdsurfed, stage dived, and headwalked about a million times, although I don't really get down the front anymore, or go to gigs that are heavy enough to call for this kind of behaviour.

Yeah! I have surfed to The Offspring when I was 14/15, haven't really done it since. I lost my shoe on the way to the front, but someone was kind enough to chuck it over the front barrier as I was being shoved out round the side and we were happily reunited. I tend to try and go to smaller venues or stay a bit further back, being vertically challenged, so there's not much opportunity any more.

:D

No, I haven't crowd surfed - too lazy/scared of getting my teeth kicked in on the way down. Or groped, which would probably have been more likely.

If there was a likihood of groping you'd never keep me on the floor. Girls get all the perks :( :D

Nah, I was unfailingly cooperative but I used to hold down inconsiderate feet first stage divers and administer some judicious kickin'n'stampin'. I never saw a girl get groped.

Everytime I saw them play Rocket From The Crypt gave stage divers a few slaps and then did a couple of tunes while sitting on them.
