And team news:

Love an Essex Hamlet game, right near me. Annoyingly nowhere a station though. Avoiding the burger this time, was in the edible but meh category last time out.

Nice to be back here, last time was a bitterly cold Monday night 0-0 for Aveley v Yeovil where the one bright spot was Eduino Vaz.

Two more new players. Goalkeeper Dylan Berry, a former Northern Ireland U21 released by Norwich City last summer, has appeared for Ebbsfleet and Welling this season, and Josh Adepoju, previously with MK Dons.

Berry with some good saves with Hashtag having three or four good chances and most of the play.

But darn clinical from us, Chambers a rock and Bremang causing backline issues. Gwan the Hamlet!

Before a ball was kicked, I’d guess we’d have taken a point on the road against an in form playoff chasing side, who’ve already beaten* us twice this season.
After 81 minutes though, we looked good for all three, only to concede two late goals.

We took the lead against the run of play. A Mark Marshall corner was only partially cleared. Hudson, Marshall and Bonnett-Johnson exchanged passes with the captain playing Marshall in. He squared it to Kaunda, who took one touch before curling home right footed from about 12-yards, their keeper will probably feel he could’ve done better.

Max Cornhill scuffed one wide when he should’ve equalised. Hashtag then hit us on the counter and had a four on three. Berry made the first of many good saves when he denied the overlapping full back’s effort with his foot. That chance was created by Sak Hassan who was their biggest threat throughout. In fact such was his ability, Hudson switched to the right to help Mason, who picked up a yellow and was subbed at half-time for the returning Ramsay.

By that point Bremang has doubled our lead, chasing what looked like a lost cause, before blocking the keeper’s attempted clearance, then rounding him and finishing into an empty net.

Despite a couple of Marshall chances to extend our lead, 2-0 at half-time slightly flattered us as Berry also made a good save from Djemalli after a failed nutmeg by Kaunda had turned the ball over in our own half, and Georgiou’s goal bound effort was blocked by his own man.

Eleven minutes into the second half Hashtag had one back, Wooldridge overlapped down the right and his scuffed cross found his its way to Luke May-Parrot who had a simple finish.

Then came the moment of the match. From just inside their half Hudson hit a diagonal free-kick towards Mills, who headed it on the Chambers who was just inside the box in the right half space. The centre-half instantly controlled it and with his second touch curled an unstoppable shot into the bottom left hand corner. Watch out Wanadio, there’s a new goal of the season contender in town.

That was as good as it got though. A Marshall injury meant another defensive reshuffle and Hashtag took advantage. In the 81st minute they worked an overload and Hassan got the goal his performance deserved, finding the top bins with a cool side foot finish.
And, in the 86th minute, they completed the comeback. We cleared their long throw-in, but they worked it into the box and Djemalli fired home.

An excellent highlights package from the hosts, with a decent commentary too:

I like the description of Michael Chambers as "an experienced Goliath", which tops last season's verdict that Danny Mills "is very long".

The Mason yellow card foul looks a bit pointless, as I can't see their player would have reached it ahead of the keeper. I couldn't tell exactly what he did for the second foul. If it was more of a collision it doesn't have to be another card, but if he pulled him back it really should have been. Either way, I'm sure he'd have been dismissed by some referees.

Max pics!

Just watched the highlights. Very slick camera work!

Chambers goal was exceptional.

The strange thing about Hashtag is how hollow it all is - commentator at 3-3 exclaiming 'one more goal would blow the roof off this place' when the ground is basically empty.

Not belittling a club for a low support if they are part of the local community, but if no one turns up despite all the social media followers, is it really worth it?

It's a bit like Ide Hill who play in a ridiculously oversized stadium in Peckham's league.

They've got no fans, so there's zero atmosphere. Totally soulless.

I guess all the social media followers think it's worth it, but we never see them when we play their team. It feels a bit like an extension of the behind closed doors season, when everyone was watching on live streams, but most people couldn't wait to get back to watching at the grounds and attendances boomed afterwards.

Like all of these itinerant groundshare clubs, I struggle to see any incentive to support them over the main tenant at the same ground. Hashtag actually seemed to build up a fanbase while sharing at Bowers & Pitsea (which is basically part of Basildon) but now they've relocated to Aveley, which is a bit of an outpost in the small belt between Greater London and the M25. Their average attendance has dropped by nearly 50% this season, despite better results. Aveley themselves have been very successful in recent years, rising from Step 4 to Step 2 and finishing 7th in their first National South season, so there's unlikely to be any real latent local support for Hashtag to tap into that hasn't already discovered Aveley.
