Has the FA Cup regained its glamour?

There's no 'glamour', just a relentless promotional campaign by the BBC on behalf of the FA - "Oh I say, another wonderful game in the biggest cup competition in the world . . . ". How often do even the commentators and summerisers promo the damn contract during every live broadcast . . . it's total bullshit.

... no London club in the final, eh.....:D

dunno about glamour but it's one in the eye for the metropolitan media who have no London or 'big 4' club to fawn over in the last 4.

The real football world celebrates

:D

what have you got against leyton orient?

This has pleased me so much I've even wandered over to the Footie forum to comment :D I'd love to see the Baggies win it but I reckon Barnsley have a decent shout, If you've just beat Liverpool and Chelsea to get to the semi's then you'll be feeling fucking bulletproof won't you?

This may be their downfall .... history is littered with clubs who've slayed giants and then failed dismally in later rounds against teams at their own level in the league.

indeed, but they must be confident. It's overconfidence that'll screw it up for them as I suspect it did for the two big teams they've put out.

Not being funny but that really aint the point is it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is by far the best and most exciting FA cup semis in history - and I don't even support any of the sides in it!

So? I was just agreeing with a poster. I wasn't comemnting on glamour or not at that point.

Seeing as two of the Big Four™ conspired to produce the most boring game ever in the history of football (FACT!) last season, I'm happy that none of them will be in this year's final.

OTM. That game was worthy of eating your own eyeballs so you didn't have to watch anymore.

Anyway, the concept of "glamour" in football is just something conceived of by people more interested in the by-products of football than the game itself.

yes.

Smaller clubs get the chance of a lifetime, a bit of cash and maybe a UEFA place

( remembers the Lions short lived UEFA cup run :()

I think it's the best semi-final line up in history

Could only be improved if the Gas had made it

Put the champagne on ice, we're going to Wembley twice ;)

I think the final will be Saturday 17 May .... if so, I'll be at a small festival up North not bothering with any music etc. at that point, but watching the match in the pub next door! :D

Sod glamour, a bit of genuine unpredictability is the point. Tis all

I'm hoping for a Portsmouth v Cardiff final :)

I bet the cops aren't though

i notice one or two people were going on about a bit of glamour coming back into the cup when barnsley beat the likes of liverpool in earlier rounds but now some of the smaller teams are heading to the final some of the same people are going on about how shit the cup has become. they're happy to see a few upsets along the way but would still prefer some of the bigger boys to be in the final when it comes down to it

haven't noticed myself.

I'm just btter that United got dumped out by jammy Portsmouth but i do think it'll be an interesting cup from now on, albeit less interesting for me specifically.

He's a newcastle fan. Dunno why he's getting dewy-eyed about Millwank.

Local club where I live and I take an interest in what goes on and go to the odd game if I get the time

My employers have platimum ticets for the emerites that you can use, but I would prefer to go to the new Den given the choice

I like to see the underdogs do well and will be rooting for Barnsley personally....
Not a close follower of footy these days but still like the FA Cup more than most competitions
