Has Sven lost it?

Let me reduce your unsureness mate. He was bought by the man who bought and developed, amongst many, nicolas anelka, thierry henry and patrick viera. This man has an eye for raw talent, then goes about developing it.
Fair enough, but the point kind of is the fact that he's raw talent, rather than developed. Yes I know Rooney was too but as we all know, he's something special.

Like I said, I'm not saying we can't win it, I'm just not as confident as I was, say, six months ago.

Football often rewards the brave. Sven has shown the way. Remember, bravery is supposed to be part of the english spirit!
Well yes, this is why I'm not condemning the move - just a bit of a worrier me :o

Fucking almost jizzing with excitment about it all, got me wallchart and everything.

Well mate i was watching the game when rooney got injured. And all i could think was what a pity for him and all football lovers, but that it would not derail our bid to win the cup. Teams win, not one player. And ours is just brimming with quality and wonderful skills.

I'll be in sunny sussex for the first game against paraguay, arriving in the day before. I've got all my ales lined up, and a quick visit to the bookies in the morning. Won't be able to avoid the temptation of a bet.

But i'm getting well out of the country at the end of the group stages. Football where i live, with loads of different nationalities is great. I watched us win the world cup in rugby with loads of aussies around me, and that is FUN taking the piss after...

Fuck that old squad looks dire looking back at it now. No wonder we never qualified for the 94 world cup with that shite...

I reckon if you played them off against each other, we'd win - but it would be a narrow win.

Steve fucking Howey! :D I wonder if he's related to Hargreaves ;)

I have awful memories of a few years when players like Andy Hinchcliffe were allowed near the team :D

The midfield is shite, that's for sure.

I dunno, compared to now yeah - but Ince was in his prime, Redknapp hadn't broken every muscle in his legs yet....

It was quality at the time  Best summer of my life that one.

That was the Euro 96 squad. The 94 world cup qualifying squad was even worse, with players like Carlton Palmer and Des Walker making the team.

If that Euro 96 squad can beat the Netherlands 4-1, just think what this lot can do if they put their mind to it.

Things have a habit for happening. First we had sven sacked, but told he could hang on for the world cup. Then we lost our star quality player to injury. The twin events should provide plenty of extra motivation for our other quality players to gel in the way arsenal have in the european cup and hurtle headlong into the final. That old squad looks quite appalling compared to our new one!

Praise be to how the premierhsip developed, giving us a continental aspect to our game. Now we begin to reap the rewards...
