Despite being a universally recognized phenomenon, the exact mechanism by which the cat purrs has been frustratingly elusive for scientists. This is partly because the cat has no obvious anatomical feature unique to it that would be responsible and may also be partly because a cat placed in a laboratory for examination is unlikely to make the noise.
Wikkid

^^nice :)

i once heard that cats aren't actually *aware* that they're purring, and it's more of a reflex than a voluntary thing.

no idea how true that is :)

Just stroked tabby to sleep

He purrs like a motorboat

Awwwww. I wanna get home in a flash now so I can stroke Sachin. Flinty doesn't/can't purr. I know not why :(

One of our cats (whose middelname is Hesitant) doesn't purr; he just breathes in and out very quickly.

I slept all night in a bed covered in tabby hair.

I think I can now safely conclude that I aren't no longer allergic to cats :D
