Harmison back for 3rd Test

KP is nowhere near mature enough to become captain of either side. He will, I reckon, be a Botham-style disaster.

Strauss ftw.

It is a terrible shame if he does go, and we will regret it next year when we (as we did in 2006-7) realise what a fantastic captain he has been, and how absolutely unlucky (when viewed against Ponting, Jayawardene or even Smith) he has been with injuries to / loss of form of vital parts (especially the bowling) of that side that from the 2003-2005 was the best in the world.

Hopefully England will identify his obvious talents and get him in as close to a non-playing captain role as they can.

Still, he wont be remembered for this series when it comes down to it, he will be remembered for getting Ponting to blink first during that glorious 2005 series.

Yes. Vaughan will be missed massively and I am very sad cos I think he's been a fantastic captain. The man who is really on the line now is Peter Moores - If results don't change then Egland will need to rethink the whole structure and the captaincy will not be up for debate.

The captain has to be someone who can be assured of their place in the side on merit. Strauss is perpetually on thin ice with the selectors.

That's only been the case since Strauss was overlooked in favour of Flintoff for no apparent reason at all. Prior to that lousy series in Aus, Strauss was el golden boy.
