It was after the we only speak english chant that the 'allez le dulwich' and altona chants began..

Harlow came flying out of the blocks and got their early headed goal partly aided by the Dulwich defence switching off completely, but they couldn't maintain their impetus and some pretty rudimentary long ball play was soon sussed out by the Hamlet. Still; any corner, free kick or cross high into our box seemed to be impossible for Dulwich's defence to deal with throughout most of the evening. A bit of a worry.
We grew into the first half and looked more and more threatening with a few decent chances squandered. Second half was much better and we began to test Harlow more regularly. Then came Ashley Carew with one of the best goals I've ever seen. He walloped the ball first time from about 25 yards out. It flew like an exocet and bounced in off the crossbar near the top right hand corner. Such a clean strike. Took my breath away. The bench clearly loved it, having had some argy-bargy following a dangerous tackle on Beaney on the stroke of half time. Junior Kadi's primal scream of the C-bomb as bedlam broke out amongst the Dulwich fans, bench and players was clearly very heartfelt.
Dulwich had Harlow on the ropes and soon after came a promising break down the left. A cross was aimed toward Danny Carr on the far side of the box and he leapt like Danny Carr to plant a header past the impressive Harlow 'keeper.
The win never looked in doubt from then on, and Harlow's boy between the sticks pulled off a couple more cracking saves before the final whistle rang out.

The Poundland Distribution Centre loomed menacingly over the ground and is so large that I momentarily mistook it for a low roll cloud.

Love the bottom three in that table, by the way![]()
Do we really want to see that type of home support? Smalltown Football League mentality - typical of a club that's won almost every home game for the last two seasons - they barely made a sound after their team fell behind. Harlow is a dreadful place and it would suit me if that bottom three in the current table stays the same, with Harlow slipping into the fourth place.despite being called 'pink nonces' and being told they don't 'speak urdu' - was nice to see some vocal home support.
Welcome to the Premier Division Harlow - you're playing with the big boys now

I always remember 'Neil the Hippie' using that phrase in an episode of 'The Young Ones', about 2 minutes in on this clip:Pink Panther - gangland enforcer
From memory he chested it down first then steadied himself before shooting - but still 'the greatest goal in the history of non-league football', so f*ck off Wealdstone & Glen Little!Just seen the highlights... so Carew's goal wasn't a first time hit, and more like 16 yards out! haha. It seemed a lot further out from where I sat
