Handbag Carrying Fashions

I carry my bag....

It really depends on which handbag I'm using, some of mine won't fit over my shoulder (but I love them anyway) so I either carry them in my hand or do the crook of the arm thing.

I too had been feeling like one of my grandmothers (my stepgran in fact, she was always beautifully turned out). Glad to know it's not just me though :)

I always take an across body bag when I go to Barcelona, as I am paranoid about being robbed.

This is another reason why I carry my leopard bag in the crook on my arm, rather than my hand... Not because I have anything worth robbing, but because it's soooo beautiful....

Like crack 'eads give a shit 'bout vintage leopard print handbags :D

I think handbags are shit tbh, yet people often buy them for me as gifts ...I guess cos they never see me with one.
The only one I use is small and has a long strap so I can keep it with me if I go to a club...otherwise I just use my pockets to carry my stuff mostly.
I particularly hate clutch bags, they are just begging to get nicked and they look ridiculous frankly.
I apologise to bag lovers everywhere for my oddly strong views on the subject :D

I'm a bit shit with bags to be honest. The one I mainly use is a tiny gold kitchy bag which fits everything it perfectly.

It would do my head in if I couldn't at least fit a bag over my shoulder. I like to be able to flail my arms about, if need be.

I.e I want to be able to talk on the phone and have a fag at the same time.

Clutch bags are crap.

I only started using a handbag when I started carrying inhalers. I don't tend to buy clothes with pockets and it got a bit too much carrying my purse, keys, phone AND inhalers.

Now I'm a handbag addict and don't even carry inhalers..!

I don't like the massive sack-like handbags though, mine tend to be quite small.

I say bring back the yoke :-

I always have a massive bag (on a work day it normally seems to be 90% full of food :o )

I vary in carrying it in the crook of my arm, on my shoulder or in my hand. I'm a bit more paranoid after I got pickpocketed from my bag - prefer to keep it over my shoulder in a crowd, cos then it's more secure and the opening is under my arm.

Shoulderpads are back btw. According to grazia. :D

I prefer over the shoulder bags. Ones that should probably be across the body but then my tits are awful. There's no way I could carry a bag in my shoulder crook, even an empty one.

Bring them to clothes swap on 5th March

I read BIG hair is back as well.

Do you think it'll be long skirts next?

I had blue eyeshadow on yesterday. :hmm:

(realise my post didnt much sense either - i meant elbow crook not shoulder)

There is a theory that hemlines fall with the market.

So, yes.

Yep, it was all long skirts when I left school in the 80s with 3 million unemployed.

I wonder if it affects necklines as well? :hmm:

There was no heaving bosoms being thrust in your face back in the early 80s you know. People were prim :D

Ankle length skirts, big bright shirts, big belts, plastic bangles.

No, weren't that long, but mid calf very flared skirts with big buckle belts were all the rage. Pencil skirts were popular (but only good can be said of pencil skirts).

Shirts were done up (although that could just be because I was of school age and young ladies didn't show off their tits then). :o

Tiny little bags with handles just big enough to circle your shoulder seemed to be the thing a few years ago.

I've always found that quite odd, surely you'd just sweat all over your handbag in the summer?

Strap across the body for me - leaves your hands free for other things.
