A high quality game and a cracking contest, illuminated by a pair of stunning 30 yard goals plus a dramatic winner in the final minute of stoppage time. I actually felt for the visitors, who didn't really deserve to lose like that after a brilliant first half performance full of pace, with slick passing and movement, that often left us chasing shadows. Ultimately they paid the price for not converting more of their chances while on top. Their only goal was an awesome strike from our regular nemesis Ogo Obi, who now has 6 goals from 4 matches against us for 3 different clubs, but this was the first time he hasn't contributed towards a win. He shaped inside from the right and whipped an unstoppable left foot shot beyond the keeper's reach into the far top corner.
The second half was a different story, with the half-time replacement of Wynter with Porter giving a more attacking edge. Hamlet were soon in the ascendancy, and JBW equalised 10 minutes in with a trademark long range torpedo that flew through a crowded box and inside the left hand post, with former Hamlet keeper Charlie Grainger wrongfooted and possibly unsighted. We generally looked the likelier winners after that, enjoying more of the play and territory, although Wingate remained a threat on the break with some menacing counter attacks. In the final minute of stoppage time a corner was only partially cleared and the loose ball was crossed back in from the opposite side. Danny Mills met it with one of his helicopter leaps, hanging in the air above all else, to send a looping header into the net.
I liked the look of new midfielder Hassan Ibrahiym, who looked pretty sharp and displayed an impressive passing range before he was substituted midway through the second half.
