Halp! Need to accessorise with purpley/blue dress

Personally, I'd go either for something quite neutral (black, white, as you say cream, silver, gold) or for a really strong contrast like pillarbox red or yellow. Silver would be my first choice but you don't necessarily want a silver shrug (or whatever).

As much as people can give you suggestions though, shades of a colour vary hugely and the best thing you can do is hold A up to B and see if they look nice together.

bold option - deep turquoise as has been said - peacock colours.

safe option - dark chocolate brown. Brown goes much better with purple and blue than black does, as a neutral. Think 'open bar of dairy milk'. I personally wouldn't go for anything pale.

Great dress and it has got to be the turquoise. Don't forget to paint your nails. IMO going out dressses and jewellery looks so much better with painted nails...:)

Yep, I'm with spangles on this.

Personally I'd look for a shoe in a browny-bronze, and an emerald green shrug type thing.

Google for bronze shoe brought up these - they're so bling you probably wouldn't want much by way of other accessories

Lovely dress! :)

MMmmm peacock greens.....deep turquoise.....vibrant orange!! Beautiful colours and, imo, all would go.

Orange  I can see it working but perhaps not on me :D

Gonna hit the shops this weekend and take the dress with me to see what I can find. I may have found some shoes in Debenhams that are a colour match for the dress (if the website pic is to be believed) which might make the accessory colour options easier :) fingers crossed

Personally I would not have matching accesories. I would go for either black shoes or a bold colour that would clash. If wearing black shoes the accesories would be bright, like a chunky bright yellow bracelet on one arm and then thin green ones on the other. But then I am a bit odd :D

Go for the diagonally opposite end of the wheel, or neutrals - sand, cream, beige, grey,

or white or black.

If it helps to confuse things any further I have ginger hair - I really don't fancy wearing any orange so my hair will cover that angle :D

Maybe I'll just wear all the colours ever! and a HAT

Well so far the suggestions are:

Emerald green
Turquoise
Pink
Silver
Black
Cream
White
Red
Yellow
Brown
Bronze
Orange
Grey
Sand
Beige

I feel we haven't been helpful enough here as I'm sure there are still one or two colours missing (possibly blue and purple).

Cream

Gold

I think these are what I am going to be looking for as I wander around today, going to be taking the dress with me.

First stop will be Debenhams for the possible purpley blue colourmatch shoes....then who knows, probably aimless wandering for a few hours then I won't find anything and end up spunking a load of money on CDs instead :Deither that or underwear.

I think the best colour to both go with and contrast at the same time is Crimson. The purple/royal blue contains blue and Crimson is a red with some blue in it so hence the compatibility or harmony. The red part of the crimson is also present in the purple/royal blue. So what you have is a dress in a red/blue with blue mixture being dominant set against a handbag/shoes with a red/blue mixture with red being dominant.

Anyhow I am a man and not even gay so you will dismiss my ideas probably.

The other problem of course is that you may decide that crimson handbag and shoes are exactly what you want, but this year's fashions just don't allow for that. You have to go for what is in the shops.

You may be able to do red shoes and blue handbag or vice versa, but the red must be a cold red and not a vermillion type. Magenta (violet/purple) may also work but is probably not available.

Silver has also been mentioned but gold is a good colour to go with royal blue.

I like colour myself, and although I mostly wear black/grey, I love to see women making good colour combinations, especially when they break away from the official fashion colours for the year.

Did you get anything?

I always think of indigo as dark blue, verging on navy. Dunno why.

Anyhoo I got some shoes from debenhams, went round and round the shops trying to fathom out what to do about arms and bag and didn't get anything else  apart from a bra (in a suitable blue hue) and a cd!

These be the shoes:

I did find a bolero type thing in wallis in the same blue hue but decided against that cos it'd be too much blue.

I want to go for green or turquoise for the arm hider and bag but finding two shades that match is nigh on impossible so might go for cream OR just get massively pissed so I don't care about my arms.

Most of the vauguely suitable bags are so tiny :( I want to take my camera but it probably wouldn't fit!

I like the suggestion of scarlet but you'd have to get exactly the right shade - nice and dark, kind of nail-polish colour.
