Just to add: I liked the demo of skate, not Halo 3.


Halo 3 is for hype-addled children and people who couldn't get the hang of using a mouse and keyboard at the same time to control a FPS.

And mouse and keyboards are for giddy teenagers who can't handle the supremacy of the Wii controllers.

I absolutely hate the game, it's impossible to play a FPS game properly on a joypad. Glad I only hired it to check out the online play which I found frustrating. It's just a rehash of Quake 3 only not as buzzing and with a few bits of other games thrown in. Totally unoriginal in content, not that it's a bad thing to improve something which they haven't done imo.

As a sideline did anyone download the interview with the developers?

How many times did they use the word "God"?

halo was the first fps i enjoyed on a consol, the xbox pad is better for that style of games, though not as good as keyboard and mouse. Never got golden eye, quake was way better.

A keyboard and mouse would change everything for me as far as the Xbox is concerned.

I'd even consider swapping my PC for a box and a HDTV or maybe a VGA lead and a 22" monitor but with the current pad controls FPS just blows.

I'm enjoying the single player atm but I wouldn't say it was 10/10.
Bioshock was a 9/10 for me and this isn't as compelling / unputdownable as Bioshock.

So many of the reviews I have seen have said things like:

"the single player campaign isn't that astonishing" or

"It doesn't really offer much of a leap forward from the previous game" or

"It doesn't really push the system that hard or look that amazing compared to it's peers" or

"One section in particular was very poor and I don't ever have to want to play it again"

and yet it still gets 9's and 10's across the board.

Oh wait its a one hander, I'll need a duel wield then as it will be pants on its own, nope, nope, nope and ok got one. Right so my left hand I can hold the trigger down for rapid fire but i need to pump the trigger for the right. I'd rather that the other way around. Okay so lets see if I can sort that. Hang on aliens I'm still sorting my guns out. Drop, pick up, no not that one I wanted the one I just dropped argh. Fuck it lets play Bioshock instead.

yeah , i got a mag called 360 pro ( i think , its only 2.99 and it has given it 8/10 and the most honest review yet , it seems that at least some mags arent bowing to the microsoftgod

But so much fun. When you finally beat an encounter, it feels like you did it with skill and planning. You really have to strategise - check what tools you have, what the enemy forces are, what order you should take them on, where you should place yourself, etc. The bad guys seem genuinely smart.

I also take care to equip my allies with appropriate guns. Nothing like packing a passenger warthog with marines carrying fuelrod cannons and sniper rifles
