Halo3

Argos briefly had it on shelves and a few hundred lucky people got it, but then they realised the mistake. It's released on wednesday (which means midnight tomorrow, if you know a store opening then - many are)

No-one I've showed it to has been overly impressed. Anyone else notice the new tendancy of review sites giving masively hyped games near perfect scores?

I was playing Halo 2 in anticipation last night. Getting slaughtered 25-1 by 10 year old kids reminded me why I stopped playing :)

The beeb has an article about he us release.

I love this disclaimer at the bottom:

Are you a fan of the Halo series of games? Will you be getting Halo 3? Tell us why you're a fan.

You can also send us a picture of yourself from inside Halo 3. Grab a screenshot of yourself and then email us the link using the form below:

Its only a game, its not real.

I went to the midnight launch to get my copy. I'm offically sad. :D

you should have gone to argos last week ;)

i however downloaded it last week , then forgot to pack it when i came back to dublin where my 360 currently resides :o :(

Yeah, the launch party was a bit of a shambles, but worth it for a free game :)

Played 2.5 levels of it so far and its hitting its stride now. Very good fun, although I wish the brutes weren't quite so hard to kill. I only just finished playing the first one through, and nothing quite beats fighting the elites in that. Everything used to be balanced around taking down their sheilds then going in for the kill. With the brutes, you don't really know if they're shielded or not, or how many hits from the sniper rifle they'll take.

Looks great, btw. And no slowdown, which is very good.

Heard on the news many of the limited editions are too scratched to play due to a packaging issue. MS are replacing them for free but word of warning like.

Just had a quick bash and so far it seems really good. Not played it online yet but I'm guessing the co-op multiplayer is gonna be immense.

Feels weird using the second analogue for aiming after using the Wiimote on Resident Evil 4 so much recently (also forgot how noisy the 360 is). But yeah, seems great so far - the graphics are certainly nice.

Anyone else got yet?
Bought it for Kevin today , plus he's had me over. he's off school with a throat infection.
Pig is on nights, first of all Kevin said he had £20 upstairs towards it and it would only be £30:mad: , I said I'd pay the rest as it's his birthday on the 9th of next month. Came down with a tenner, he said Pig "borrowed a tenner last night" to take to work, "but it's ok as he said you put the rest as it's for my birthday and dad said I could have it to play with today"

Muggins(me) goes off to Game in Ilford to get it, along with a note of what to get "the one in the tin, special edition" £50, so I ring him and he said "just asked dad and he said to get it cos he wants to play it, don't worry about the price."

All lies.

Lol. Crispy is right. U r pwned!

You should have got him Halo 1 platinum edition for £9.99 and said you thought it was better still as platinum cards are the best cards ain't they.

He's done all the other Halos already.

He's was sitting up there playing live earlier and Pig said why didn't you get the £34 one, and his reply was the £50 has a "pretty tin."

It comes with bonus making of thingies as well.

Yeah but give it time and it'll drop in price. I picked up the Halo2 tin special thing for 18 quid. Is cool though, more games like this should have a dvd extras disc...

Just got Skate (which is ace - Nirvana and Slayer soundtrack!) and am downloading Sega Rally so I'm gonna be swamped in gaming heaven.

Yeah, I liked the demo so I will be grabbing this once it hits PAL (no chipped system. Fucking EA and their region locks  )

Just to add: I liked the demo of skate, not Halo 3.

Halo 3 is for hype-addled children and people who couldn't get the hang of using a mouse and keyboard at the same time to control a FPS.

:p

Well, get the PC versions of the first 2 then, and you can mouse away to your heart's content :)

Well I got Halo 3 yesterday...and it's much better than I thought it would be. Going through the first level in the jungle was so cool, with the monkey sounds and the light breaking in through the leaves. It's meant to get much better too :)

Had a few games on multiplayer (last 3 times!) and it was really fun.

You know a game is good when you can't wait to go home to play more.

I wish. I find console controls soo much harder and slower than mouse and keyboard. I miss my mouse and keyboard :(

But at least with the xbox its a fairly level playing field. No advantage from having a better spec machine and hax.

I just pray to god that MS don't go ahead with their cross platform xbox live idea so that PC gamers can trounce Xbox players with the aid of their kiddie easy controls, haxes and uber spec machines.

aw man, it so does get better too :) that first level is really pretty lame compared to how it gets later.

I'm on about the 6th level (I reckon) and it's getting ROCK HARD. Some encounters are taking me 10 goes to get through. Feels great when you do though :)

On the controls - the game is designed for the joypad, so you don't actually need to have twitch controls to do well. In fact, I find myself prefering the joypad - you get analogue control of your movement, and all the buttons are in sensible places.

Plus I can sit in the armchair while playing.
