Anyone getting this? I'm midly tempted (mainly because it aint too expensive on Play.com) and I'm curious about what they do next with the story. That said I thought HL2 was a bit dissapointing...meh. *shrugs*:o

Have to agree, HL2 looked ace, but the story line and the characters were poor tbh, don't think I will bother with this one.

i didn't bother finsihing HL1, i just got a bit bored

counter strike on the other hand....

i can'r get enough of

HL2 is one of the best games ever made - this becomes particularly apparent if you play it more than once.

Kid Eternity, Dandred and loud1 are all wrong.

enjoyed playing HL1, so will probably play HL2 sometime in the future need a bit more memory though tried to play F.E.A.R the other day and it was jerky as fuck also got
Doom 3

maybe it was cos i hadn't played a pc game for about 3 years beforehand, but i thought it was a bit disappointing

the ending was atrocious

though it was still really good on the whole don't get me wrong!

in the pc gamer scores of my misspent pubescence i'd rate it about 94%

Sorry mate, HL1 was the best game I've ever played. I hold to that now.

The story went on forever, the things you had to kill seemed to never end......

What did I get with HL2, small, short fire-fights with moments of boredom that lasted forever while I tried to walk through a small passage way or across a bridge........only to find one or two things to kill......

HL1 the best single player PC game EVER. :)

P.S. I've got 35,00000000 lost posts

Yeah but you're all wrong.

:p

HL2 itself was a bit dissapointing tbh...

however i only bought it to get access to CS:S which rocks so much it could call itself a quarry

best game I have played.eva

from what i'm reading here HL2 sounds a bit of an anticlimax, kinda reminds me of the second and third Matrix movies, the first movie was so good everyone looking forward to the sequels and they turn out shit, is this how HL2 pans out?

Pretty much. To be fair it's a lovely looking game and the few firefights you get into are quite cool but there are far too many long stretches of nothing and then a few alien zombie things. The end was complete wank too.

The part where it won 35 GOTY awards is a bit of a clue.

I've got it on pre-order. I thought HL2 was great.

It seems that no matter how good a game, movie or TV show is....

people really, really, really hate the words...

"To be continued......"

When that happens, there is no proper ending, which is what most people found unforgivable about HL2.

And let's face it.

It ain't gonna get any better if you're the kind of person that has a fit of rage if there is no ending to the story.

Hint...."Episode 1"

get the game

install it

fuck off the HL2 bit

play CSS that comes with it

seriously

if you like FPS then CSS is the dogs.

omfg CSS.

fps on css --- unless you have spent £300 on gfx card dont bother
graphics on css -- omfg my eyes my eyes
physics on css --- lol, hmm very realistic
models on css --- bunch of ballet dancers
weapons go "tink tink"

played css 64 player on dust -- hahahahaha what a joke

steam should be wiped from all computers -- bring back WON
anybody got 'friends list' working for more than 5 mins? nope
anybody ever had a steam kick mid game when you are 32-0 and every shot is mint. grrrrr

cs 1.6 still rules and is not for the spray and pray player

cz nice fun multiplayer

That's bollox, my rig is fairly standard (and my graf card is far from £300!) and CSS runs very well.

indeed up until I built my seriously mofo machine i was running a 5800(or may have been a 5700 - cant remember) hardly state of the art and the game ran perfectly well.

never had a steam kick ever tbh

agree that steam are a bunch of fuckwits though

More Ram definately.

Tomshardware did a few tests and found that while dual channel does indeed offer increased bandwidth.. 1Gb stick RAM increased performance and loading of game.

If you can afford 2 x 1g dual channel , then you are cheering otherwise 1gb stick = world of difference.

Turn down the settings and any gfx card 9800 and upwards can easily play any game on the market

I'm gonna get this, if only because it's a bit of gaming history.

I've been trying to buy SiN episode 1 for about a week now (haven't tried over the weekend) but Steam just sends me to a dead link, which is highly unuseful.

Hint: they're going to string this "story" out as long as it makes them tons of cash!

Until christmas 2007 over three episodes*

Which most would prefer over another 6 year gap waiting for HL3.

How many 'expansions' were there for HL1, again ?

hl2 was fine on my laptop (1.7ghz centrino/1g ram/ati 9700 64mb) at medium settings

the important question though is,

TEAM FORTRESS 2!!!1!1!!!!!1
how i miss thee :(

I'd wait ten years if they made it good rather than getting less sooner...

You have a very good point.

But, for some reason I think that when the people made HL1 they had no idea about the success it would bring, the 'expansions' were an after thought.

Now we have a gaming industy were the after thoughts, are a money maker.

That is what people seem unhappy about........look at BF2, Oblivion ect and all the extras people have to pay for.

Do you want to buy a game knowing you will have to keep on paying just to play the game?
