Half-fat cheese

Grrrr... you're taking the mickey

Not really. There's a time and a place.

Clearly if you're preparing a slice of cheese on toast, then your approach is problematic.

However, is you just want to enjoy some cheese then why not just enjoy half of much of some really good quality full-fat one.

There's a word to describe this approach to things.. I can't remember.. but I'm sure MysteryGuest will.

Half fat anything is mostly bullshit.

Just eat half of the good stuff for the same benifits.

u75 seems to be taking a quite big food/heath turn or is it just me.

The word in question..

Temperance..

As featured in Andre-Comte Sponville's "A Short Treatise on the Great Virtues"

"The idea that “temperance is not about enjoying less but about enjoying better”

Depends really. If you already use a small amount of cheese, then yes. If you're like me and put a whole pack of cheese on the toast, effectively making it toast under cheese rather than cheese on toast, then no

There's gonna be grey areas.. :)

I applied this approach in Wetherspoons the other week.. I thought I'd only have 1 glass of wine.. so I went for the most expensive on the list. They didn't have it though. :(

I have learnt my lesson now. I only bought it cos it was £1.31 for massive block - I only noticed the price, not the 'half-fat' bit. I had some in a sarnie this morning and it's OK if you smother it in tomato and chili relish.

It's january. They'll all be back on the rothmans, scotch pies and buckfast by march.

I don't mind it - it's OK grated with a jacket potato, but absolutely awful in toasted sandwiches. The stronger ones are the best. I don't even bother with half fat Red Leicester as it doesn't taste of anything at all.

We have half fat cheese. Tastes fine to me. But then we don't use much cheese. Half fat red leicester worked lovely melted on sundried tomato bread for lunch.
