lol :D

not coward, tanky, just 'growing my hair' for a bit :p

I used to go to HBF when I was at uni up the road, it was always great. I had my eyebrow pierced there too.

Thinking about it, I think I'll go there for my next cut.

Oi remember when it were in Kensington market. Got my second and third sets of ear-piercings in there, and used to go for cuts (only been a few times since they moved).

It was great because the hairdressers never seemed to have much English and often didn't give me quite what I came in for... but it was always better! I had a lovely crop/really short bob cut there years ago. I also recommend it to people who want to bleach their hair - they don't charge much and they do it right. Might go back there post-wedding, actually, as I'm thinking of bleaching again.

my hair is driving me nuts again. vaguely trying to grow it out & don't know what the fuck to do in the meantime. do you reckon they'd give me good advice if i rocked up & asked for help?

I reckon they might be able to help, they do a lot of 'alternative' stuff in there (punky hair cuts, mad colours etc - less Toni & Guy, more Camden iyswim). :)

has anyone been to Ash in Floral St. i'm going today (they got 50% off thing) and i've never been to a hairdressers before (usually barbers). i don't know what to ask for? i'm scared :(

Just explain what you want clearly and thouroughly - i.e. fairly short side, longer on top and show him/her with your hands.

If you just want a trim, say a trim and they'll know what to do :D

i don't know what i want. i've had the same boring haircut for ages. is it ok to go into these places and say: 'do what you think' or is that too risky?

Well I'm in need of a new hairdresser, this sounds dead cheap so might check them out if they're open next year when I'll next be needing a haircut. My previous hairdresser (as of last week) confused 'trim' and 'chop' and took 6 inches off my hair. :(

Incidentally the last haircut I had from here was pretty dreadful. I don't think the woman understood the texture of my hair at all. Possibly it doesn't help that they don't really look at you before the hairwasher washes your hair. I think she thought I had incredibly curly hair or something, because she cut into it with the thinning scissors all the way round  and put so much serum on it it looked greasy. Which was unfortunate as I didn't have time to go home and had to go to a party like that.

Anyway I'm going to stop having my hair cut again. It just gets shorter and shorter and it splits at the ends again anyway.

Oi, who moved this into threads and dreads? This is a London thread!

I was enjoying this but it's ancient so my 'where do you get coconut oil for your hair' question might go unanswered :(

West Indian/Asian grocers. Failing actual coconut oil, you can use the top bit of a tin of coconut milk, but that works out more expensive.

I had my hair cut there today. £13 for a better cut than I usually pay £40 for. Excellent, will be going back.
