Hair by Fairy in Covent Garden

Finally - a decent haircut!

And only £15 :)

I like the no frills approach - none of this cup of tea, sit here, the hairdresser will be with you in a moment crap. Just go in and get your hair done (and quickly too!)

I was looking at the other women getting their hair done - they all looked lovely. So yeah, I recommend it :)

Used to go there all the time when they were based in Kensington Market (got my higher 2 ear-piercings done there). The hairdressers never spoke English and sometimes didn't give me quite the cut I came in for, but it was always better than what I wanted!

Had my hair bleached a few times there, as they're certainly the cheapest place to get that done properly.

I'll make a note of that in case I ever get over my fear of hairdressers. Do they do perms? :D seriously, I want wavy hair like Beyonce.

I'll never forget how funny it was when we found out Jodal got his hair done at "Hair for Fairies" as we pretended we thought it was called.

Happy days :)

He has got whispy blond fairy hair though, bless him :)

Enid - I have hairdresser fear but I was impressed with the haircuts around me and the woman doing my hair seemed to understand what I want and appeared confident and skilled. When she blowdried my hair she used her fingers, instead of product and 3 kinds of brushes - that's good IMO cos it means the salon and home result will be the same iyswim.

I'm going there today or tomorrow. Having to wear a hat my hair is so long.

Been going there for years and has always been my favourite place to get my hair cut. They're quick (20mins), cheap (12-15quid) and cut good hair.

Well done SZC for finding it.

Had my hair cut there yesterday on the strength of this thread and would definitely give it a thumbs up. No arsing about or making me feel I'd failed as a woman because I had split ends, they just washed it, cut it, dried it, and charged me £13. They've done a really good job of it too. The guy didn't speak much English and I was a bit worried he wouldn't understand what I wanted, but he did. And was not scared to cut my fringe properly short and gothy, which high street hairdressers do not get.

It was a very quick in and out, and an excellent antidote to this.

You've got to slightly wonder whether there's a connection between the prices and the lack of English of the workforce mind, given the rents round there, although the speed of service probably helps too.

Hey Ruby :)

I'm glad you got a good haircut there. I too like the no frills quick service - I just want a haircut after all, I don't want to spend 2hrs being 'pampered'.

Is your hair still really dry? I've started using L'oreal colour protect shampoo, it's quite creamy and doesn't make your hair squeak when you rinse it out + leaves it very soft, that might help?

Well... It does happen sometimes... I went there for about a year until I had one time where the lack of English turned into a problem... "Hair By..." is nice and cheap, but don't expect it to be perfect everytime.

I agree :D

Ermm...I'm off to the hairdressers next week  Maybe I should just do a sinead? :)

Soon you'll be taking your scalp off :D

I think you'd look really good with a sinead style skinhead :) Then you could do it yourself with clippers!

well seeing as mine and rollem's hairdresser has just had a baby, I'm on the lookout for a temporary replacement, and might try out hair by fairy. I only need a trim, so they should be fine.

I need a dye and bleach job too, wonder how much they charge for that?

Google them for their website, they might have prices up and if not they defo have a number.

I could bleach/dye your hair if you want. I'm pretty good at that sort of thing (I just did my hair - orangey red on top half, dark brown underneath - at the same time  look great though :D)

cheers zenie, it's a bit of a bugger that I've got attatched to my blonde bits, otherwise I'd just slap a box of colour on myself - but I'll fuck up the blonde.

your hair sounds cool dave

well, I suppose the worst you could do is make my hair fall out ;)

Thanks Tim

Nah, it won't fall out and I know which bleach to use but I understand if you'd want it done by a professional :D
