trying to not look like a member of the tribe...

some of these kind of people can annoy me for sure, the only thing you can say
about them is they wont rob/hassle you(except in a busybody middle england way,not in a threatening way i mean)
there are PLENTY of middle class and higher people who arent horrible tho...not all poor people are hereos and not all rich people are villians..life can be complex that way, some people on this thread(or 1 person anyway)needs to realise this![]()

tbaldwin said:Complex i'd agree. But the fact is that while a lot of trendy middle class types just love the ambience and ethnic mix in Hackney..It can be a total nightmare for people. The rates of violent crime are truly shocking..And House prices keep going up and up thanks to the huge influx of white incomers to Stoke Newington,Shoreditch and London Fields.
Gentrification isnt always a bad thing but it has had some shit effects in Hackney.
The working class are shat on or largely ignored by the trendy middle class types. In Hackney there are loads of things for Middle Class kids to do...Acting Schools....Tennis Clubs and Cricket clubs but its a lot harder to find Football clubs.....
The council spent over £12million on a sports centre for Middle class people in Stoke Newington but wont spend a fraction of that on things like boxing or football.
doubt it, we bought a flat in clapton 10 years ago when it was dead cheap because no one wanted to live there...marty21 said:yes there is gentrification in hackney, stoke newington is full of people who couldn't afford islington prices...
tbaldwin said:Its also got loads of White Incomers who think its more "street" than Islington.....And prefer it....

As has been alluded too though, Hackney may be fine and dandy if you are a young person who has moved into the area and can take full advantage of the good points. If you are a single mother stuck there living in run down council accommodation , faced with sending your kids to totally inadequate schools, worrying about your son falling in with the wrong crowd and having to put up with a load of antisocial wankers on your estate - in other words disproprtionately experiencing disadvantages in the borough - I guess your opinion would be a bit different.
Don't let an impression of the borough's all-round urban grooviness in your eyes blind you to the fact that a lot of people who live there are not getting the deal they deserve.
no I don't hinge my opinons on greengrocers, honest! I've lived in Hackney for nearly 15 years I know what the deal is
