Yes i have been raped..am i to blame for that as well:mad:

yeah, right, I suppose you were raped in Hackney as well as being mugged six times

Did all this happen in the same night:rolleyes:

I've mention on this site before that i was raped ..I wonder if you would be saying this to a female victim

I've lived in Hackney off and on when i was living on the street as a 12yr old
Because of abuse

Here come the details to justify accusations *yawn*

I'd agree with the 'fuck property shows' comments.

This 'best and worst places' thing is just based on number-crunching a load of statistics on house prices, school ratings, health, crime and so on. There's nothing about the less quantifiable factors that make a place good (or bad) to live in - friendliness, atmosphere, quality of beer ( :D ), quality and diversity of shops and so on. Basically, it's bollocks.

It's just aimed at the aspirant middle classes who want their house to be a good investment and don't want their 4x4 to be broken into whilst they sit inside eating their Waitrose TV dinners. That's why, by and large, the areas that come out best are places that are probably mind-numbingly dull but very safe and near a major commuter route, and the areas that do badly are more depressed urban places.

Lest we forget, this is the place that last year rated places like Ashford (Kent) and Harrogate as among the best places to live in the country, and Hull as the worst. As I said volubly ( :D ) at the time, bollocks to pretentious places like Harrogate: I'd rather live in dear, scruffy, easygoing old Hull!

Five London boroughs in the top ten worst places though, including Islington. Food for thought for winding up the metropolitan trendies? ;) :D

I used to live in Hackney and I loved it. Bizarrely I've only ever suffered from crime (street robbery and burglary) in the two poshest areas I lived in - Notting Hill and Palmers Green. BUT, I do think Hackney might be a shitty place to live if I were a single mum on the Pembury estate. I think these polls are bollocks. Your environment is what you make of it and that can be a huge struggle if you are skint or disadvantaged in some way.

the worst thing about hackney is its reputation

still happy to be living on the FIRST street in hackney(just after canal on border with bethnal green E2)i think the inner london bourghs of islington, camden, southwark, lambeth, tower hamlets
and hackney are much of a muchness really, very lively, very diverse but high crime for sure..

I love this sort of report. The longer the reputation of Hackney stays bad, the lower the house prices will be. I love the place, personally.

i've lived in hackney since 93, never been a victim of crime in all those years, it has major problems but i've been happy living here and will probably live here for another 13 years

The house prices even in Hackney are still pretty bloody expensive, though...

I lived in Hackney for years...

Well Stoke Newington and Clapton....
Twas cool

Now, Camden, well that WAS a nightmare, made me move South
An Oi ave nevah regretted it loik

i have to say i'm well chuffed we managed to hang on two years in a row and hope this stick it to pipe right up his harris ... perosnally i think hackney is a great palce and am prudn that everyone else thinks it's shite.. long may this continue...

The true test....

will be when the extended East London line opens
Will the Sainsbuggers at NewXgate be full of Hackney saclies robbing it cos they now have a quick getaway tube?
Will migrant Hackney plumbers seek the higher rates available in Forrest Hill and Sydenham?
Will groups of Gaily clad Hackney females drag reluctant children through Brockley arms outstretched beseeching alms with badly written cardboards signs?
In 2010 we will know........

Jesus Christ talk about New Labour spin - appearance over reality

The Labour party in Hackney are really chomping on the bit about this C4 investagtion / survey - they are as mad as hell

And where the hell is BarryB? He's usually the first on these boards to defend Jules Pipe and his regime

Let's face it, no-one loves Hackney because of the council. But there are lots and lots and lots of other reasons to love it.
